Thank f**k that November is over. I recall just 3 part days of watery Sun during the whole month and the dark, gloom and damp is getting me down.
First day of December has been mostly Sun with some light cloud..:carrot: Long may it last, though I believe tomorrow is back to cold and damp.

A really lovely day here with the Sun shining its happy rays and the wet, damp crap held at bay. The weather forecast is for temperatures to drop - so a good thing as the cold and dry is better than the mild and wet. :)

First time I have been able to do a bit of gardening and pleased to see Daffodils and Snowdrops poking their heads above the soil. Just 20 days and the days start to get longer.

Toblerone is milk chocolate. Never quite warmed to itself myself. Always felt I'd break a tooth on it and it is a bit sweet.
My sister used to go skiing in Switzerland when I were a lad. Always brought back Lindt (https://www.lindt.co.uk/) and Suchard (https://www.carambarco.com/en/brands/suchard/) bars and Easter eggs for her little brothers. We were spoilt to death. The eggs were stuffed full of plain chocolates rather than paper and a few chocs.
Yum. Happy days. I don't mind Cadbury's Fruit and Nut, but Nestle sell much nicer plain chocolate Fruit and Nut in France. Can put up with Belgian Truffles too. Best thing we make in England is Crunchie Bars, IMO. Cadbury's Turkish Delight seems to have disappeared.

I try to boycott anything by Nestlé. Their business practices in Africa are appalling and completely unethical.
I quite like Crunchie bars (or "chocolate covered tooth decay"), but in general I much prefer plain chocolate with at least 70% cocoa solids, such as made by Lindt or by Green & Blacks.
Toblerone do a "dark" version - 50% coco solids I think, and far nicer than the milky one
Back on topic; lovely and sunny but very chilly breeze today - snow soon? (although we rarely get snow around here)
Snow possible here. Not forecast yet but they have forecast near freezing temperatures and rain, so it could happen.
More likely we'll get some sleet. The poor man's snow. If weather was chocolate sleet would be a Caramac bar.
Much as I follow Cyclones and Anti-cyclones in the Atlantic, the main event tonight must be the full Moon. Drives people into madness apparently.
We had a partial Lunar eclipse this morning. Not a big deal. Moon just goes a bit pink. Not worth getting up for. I just bought some chocolates later.

No, fair comment, well made. My mum told me it was time I made a living on my own, rather than sponge off my parents. Off I went to Keynsham, Bristol to Fry's Chocolate Factory. A hotbead of Socialism and filthy language. But a cracking time full of laughter and merriment. One night I forgot my sandwiches. Decided 6X Turkish Delight would hit the spot. Turned my stomach over. Never again. :lol:

I worked on Turks and Chocolate Freddos. Freddos, a froggy joke on every bar! We'd stop the production line to read good ones out to everybody. Then the foreman would shout at us to get back to work. How we laughed! We couldn't get sacked because we were all in the Union.

Rain and cold and no change until Saturday afternoon. I see that 'Drizzle' now has it's own icon on the Met Office site.
I don't see why they feel the need to distinguish between light rain and drizzle but if that's the deal then there should also be icons for 'Spitting' and 'That fine stuff that soaks you through.'

We did have a brief spell around 1pm that it eased off enough to take the pooch for a brief outing, it did start raining again halfway round though :).
Now everybody has finished work or whatever they were trying to do today, the rain has finally stopped :rolleyes:.

we had thundersnow last night; at least thats what it appears to have been. they had it in edinburgh and thats only 20 mls away. about 4.30, 5.00am was a huge noise i attributed to the railway...sounded like carriages being shunted.
It's been perishing cold weather here, with some mizzling rain.
Had to go out shopping in town today - what a miserable experience it's all becoming: queues for everywhere; constant wearing of a face covering and hand sanitising - and surly staff.
Still "'tis the season to be jolly". :rolleyes:

Been miserable cold rain most of the day, but when I got home found that all the cars and lawns had snow on them. Amazing what a difference 400 feet elevation makes.

Worked in sunny Blackpool today, and it was, for most of the day. Really quite pleasant when you're wrapped up warm :)
Foggy here, visibility about 200 yards but it's getting thicker.
It's 3c right now. I think today's high was 4c.
It was very cold and foggy this morning.
Went out shopping today; driving wasn't made easy because of the fog/mist, but most drivers were taking care. According to the car's thermometer, the external temperature was 1.5 degC.
Still cold, but the fog has thankfully disappeared.

We're not white- we start off a pale blue; exposed to the sun we go white briefly before turning bright red. BTW it's pishing doon here, only 40 miles south of Wrecksum.

Just checked the OS maps- the main road to Bishops Castle is at 150m, we're up the hill at 200m, a lot of Wrexham is about 85m, same as Welshpool FWIW. 10C too but heavy showers...

Sun sets at 3.50 PM there in December. Reason I know this is you had to ride Hell for Leather 3 miles home from school at 4 PM to make it home in what passed for daylight.
If you were later home than 4.20 PM, P.C. Plod could bust you for not having lights on your bike. :eek:

We had a nice time in Chester, thanks. Just got back. It was Del's birthday yesterday, and among other things, just for a bit of fun, I bought her some black 'Christmas tights', with Christmas trees on lol, and a red skirt to match, so she wanted an excuse to wear them out and get some shoes to match, which she did - and not bloody cheap either:doh:
Then we went to a garden centre and got a few nice bits, including a snow globe (with a snowman inside), which she fell in love with, and is now residing in the lounge. Looks rather nice lit up, actually!:)

Not where I am, Steve, and I've no idea why, because as you say most other places in Wales certainly get their fair share of rain! But here, it's more like 3 days in 7, during the winter and in the spring/summer a week can easily pass where there's no rain, although 1/2 days is normal.
In Wrexham, there seems to be some sort of 'micro climate' going on, as quite honestly the rainfall we experience is well below average, and it's rarely that cold either:)

I have an ex-bird in Llandrindod Wells, Powys. She thinks it is a dump, and the snow is difficult in winter when you drive to work up the hills, but I like countryside, and we are still friends. :)

I wouldn't hold anyone's lack of taste in music against them, at least as perceived by you or I), but the trainers are unforgivable! Lol, only kidding... Del wears them too sometimes, but only with dresses or skirts (which is pretty much all she wears). It's a cool 'hippy chick' look, which she likes and suits her - but only if the trainers in question are pink (or white)!
However yes, LDW is rather charming in an 'old school' way, which appeals to us. We rather like places that could be described as 'the land that time forgot', as life tends to be less stressful/slower-paced and like it once was [well away from the rat race]. Plus, as mentioned we like towns with a proper 'high street', blissfully free of cheap tat, and instead full of privately owned retail outlets, not filled with pound shops and soulless 'chains'.
In that respect, we could easily live in somewhere like LDW. A soggy and very gloomy 11C at the moment. I'll be taking 'Peabrain' the mutt out for a drag round the block shortly.
heavy rain, so my dog decided to go for the longest walk that we have had in years - she's twelve but wanted to go for a paddle in the reservoir, "eyeball" some cattle, several "victory rolls" in long grass/fox poo, then fast runs across very muddy fields.
Little dear had a soapy shower when we got home and is now dozing.
Despite the weather it was a great walk :)

Yes, the same every year and I get fed up of it about the same time every year!
Lol... Much the same I guess as many others and I are during the summer, when it's 30C and horribly humid, and no matter how hard we try, or where we go, inside or out, or how many clothes we remove, we just can't cool down or be remotely comfortable!!:ner:
In all seriousness though, do I prefer lighter, warmer days, to colder, darker ones? Of course!
BUT... Am I happier and more comfortable now, when *I* have the power to control the temperature of my body and environment, than I am when it's lighter, but I'm forced to sleep outside in the backyard because of the unbearable heat indoors...?

25c is just pleasantly warm, I think we had two days here last summer when the temp was higher than that. You need to move up into the hills mate!

The latter though, wouldn't be a successful cure for the heat.... No, I think on at least five occasions over the summer, the temp here topped 30C, with one day a high of 32C - and that sort of heat just kills me, especially inside a house that simply isn't designed for it.
This is a winter house, and so at its best on the dark days and nights, with the log burner going and the room all cosy and candlelit - simple pleasures that simply don't happen during the summer!;)

Fine thanks. My brother sorted out a turkey crown from some specialist butcher by where he lives, it was outstanding. He cooked, I washed up.

Snowing here right now, but it's that fine stuff that won't make snowballs. But the ground is dry and frozen so it may come to something. My new van is coming over from East Lancs today, and they always get the snow worse. They'd better not crash it :(

perving requires a level of enthousiasm i just cant be bothered with these days(or any day tbh). A bit of musac, some film, some good whisky, a bite to eat and a laugh is all i can be bothered with.

Indeed... I can assure you (as you'd probably guess) that Del's not in the least phased by that sort of stuff. She worked for years with computers for Glasgow City Council, in a building and works department in Springburn, surrounded mainly by men, and used to tease them rotten!:D
Plus, spending years living in Liverpool, while studying for her art degree, helped develop her sense of humour, as Scousers are notorious for loving a giggle! So worry not, folks, she can certainly hold her own;)

Looks very nice, but I note at the bottom of the pic that the window is firmly shut. The best way to view snow. Is that a balcony under your window? That would be nice in the spring :)

At my mate's bit in Annbank, they're mostly ex-miners houses, and they look like big semi's, but with a front and back door for ground floor accommodation, and the people who live upstairs gain access via a side door up some steps. Is your house like that?

no, mine is an upstairs/downstairs end terrace of 4. has a driveway and 2 doors. huge garden too. My sons round corner is more like it. His is a downstairs flat with door at front and a back door. upstairs has a door at side, and they have a small balcony outside the livingroom.

yeah its very foreshortened in picture and is actually a lot bigger. also the big sheds help make it look smaller.

Can't see the mountain right now - looked like the lower slopes had already lost some snow earlier on.
But not as flexible as Make do and Mendy Bendy Wendy, she can turn her hand to anything.
So can she even 'coax' yours to grow to three inches?:D
