Hello,
I'm a multimedia artist/filmmaker/sound artist/musician+composer living in the Midwest, just about to show a sound art project in Taiwan, and getting ready to undertake a large site-specific (hopefully interactive) sound installation in the coming fall.
In my day-to-day life I teach at a university and work in everything from stop-motion animation to foley art to generative sound production via programs like Puredata to interactivity with robots and kinetic/robotic sculptures. I started down this path as a jazz singer, classical cellist, oldtime clawhammer banjo player, EDM + hip hop DJ/turntablist, and radio addict. Needless to say, sound and music have always been huge parts of my life!
Recently I've begun renting a great studio space that I can finally turn into the music/sound studio I've always wanted, and I'll also begin touring with a couple of bands and doing more live performances. Thus, given that I'll be up to my neck in amps and speakers and wires and so on on a day-to-day basis, and as I'd like the very best studio hi fi setup available within my budget, I figured I would try to learn as much as I could about the subject-- which is how I discovered this forum, and well, here I am. Thanks in advance for your advice and knowledge! :)
All the best,
-Rachel
