Can anyone recommend a specialist who could respindle a Roksan TMS3 motor for me? Failing that, source a new motor. Roksan are violently expansive and my motor has very few hours on it. For some reason the spindle and pulley has a wobble. Any help gratefully received. Richard.

Take a photo of the motor and post it. I suspect the motor is a generic one.

Sadly it’s not generic at all. It’s a Saia ubr13nb4rnz27 which is obscure. Googling finds nothing. So I need to get it repaired ideally. New ones cost many hundreds from Roksan which doesn’t interest me much.

Looks to be standard motor manufacturer. Saia-Burgess. Page 13 of the catalog in this link explains the the numbering. You may have to contact them directly.

ubr13nb4rnz27 is 2mm shaft etc etc.....

Thanks for the kind leg work, Gerry. I'd seen that link but would much prefer to identify a motor restorer who can just rebuild mine (or someone who stocks them for half sensible money). But maybe such individuals are a thing of the past...? Thanks again. R

You could try contacting Ant at BTE Designs, he may be able to help.

Thanks for that Ali Tait. Curiously his www site has no contact details. Is he on this forum do you know? Many thanks. Richard

Richard, if you aren't having much joy I would suggest a call or email to Vintagetech https://www.vintagetech.co.uk

Stephen Bennett specialises in tape decks and electronics, but he's also extremely determined to find solutions to get equipment running again. He did the bearings on my Akai tape deck (amongst other things) and may be able to sort your issue or put you on to a lead.

Good luck. Bob

That's brilliant, Bob. Thank you very much. I've actually spoken to Touraj at Vertere who has explained just how complex the whole motor/pulley build and set-up is. Re-spindling is out of the question. Roksan have the remaining stocks and, having also had a constructive dialogue with them, I realise that the money they have quoted is fair. So... I will go to them. Thanks to everyone for their contributions. Much appreciated. Richard
