My hi fi room acoustic room treatment fitted

Acoustic room treatment, cheap but works.:) My system is
Michell gyro se/full orb upgrades, rega rb300 arm/techno weight, rewired, vta aduster, goldring elite cartridge,Avid support platform. Ear 834p phono pre-amp/ croft series 7 power amp/ neat speakers/ stands are filled with atacama atabites/on thick granit/speaker cables audioquest gibrolta, interconnect audioquest, mains cables merlin scorpion.:)

I'll tell you what else will make a big difference, and that is moving your turntable to a rigid stand of it's own (sorry if I have told you this before).

I've thought about some simple treatments in my room, but short of getting someone to try treatments in various places while I'm listening, I wouldn't know where to begin... There's going to be some trial and error obviously, but do you have any obvious starters for 10?

I like the miniature seating as well, are you a furniture designer by trade?

Not wishing to tread on Jason's toes, but I have also experimented with room treatment. The obvious first places for treatment are the points of first reflection on the side walls. If you listen with your head reasonably close to a wall it is also worth treating this area. I also found that a larger panel on the wall between the speakers helped firm-up imagery and increase the sense of acoustic on appropriate records.

Hi Mark, thanks for your advice, the thing is with the size of my room I could not get a hi fi stand in and a tv stand so I had to combine them. The stand is a spectral so it is solid not the the best but ok I do have a avid support under the turntable which made a huge differance, I did think of putting the turntable on a wall stand but I have heard this is not a could idea, what do you think ? any advice would be good. Hi Nick, thanks for you comments no Im not a furniture designer but I wish I was I think that I could do better than ikea:lol:. Mark quoted on your message and he is right side walls and front and back around head height when sitting, once you have done this it then becomes obvious where to place more depending how many you want fit just dont cover full walls as this just dulls the sound out, if you have never listened to your hi fi with room treatment I think you will be amazed by the sound, but be aware it becomes very addictive I could not listen to any hi fi now without some sort of room treatment, even my girlfriend sounded better when she was shouting at me for fitting it and she did agree:lolsign: I have been into hi fi for 22 years, the panels you see in the picture cost me around £120 on ebay I would say its the biggist upgrade I have ever made. Hi Jason, although wall mounting is not the panacea some would have you believe, I do think it would be worth pursuing in your situation. The most important thing is that the wall is a structural element and not a stud wall.

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply. I have a solid wall to attach a support to I will look into it, I am sick of kneeling down to change a record anyway I never thought when buying the stand just how low it was:doh:. Do you know of any good wall supports I could checkout, I only ever seem to see the target ones and they look abit dated now. Thanks Jason

Thanks Jason. It is something I should seriously get on with. My room is an odd shape, and the worst bit is that it sounds radically different depending on how high the speakers are. I think some treatments could help with this. One of these days I *will* get round to doing something about it!
