Suggestions, thoughts on potential turntable vintage or new Techy plus mods

Hi all

Here we go...

I am looking to buy into an excellent turntable and tonearm. My research so far includes :

Kenwood Kd 990
Pioneer PL 71
JVC QLA75 or 95
JVC QL Y series above the 5 model
Sony ps 2251
Sony ps 3000
Sony ps6750
and of course a modified Techi 1210.

Ignore budget for now.

The Pl71 stock tonearm can take cartridges between 4 to 32 g. My heaviest cart is 15g, so I probably want a medium to heavy mass tonearm?

However the Kd allows me to mount my SME 3009 2 imp and 3rd heavier mass tonearm.

Tonearm for the above non tonearm decks e.g. Sony 3000, would be Pua 1600 L, pua 286, Jelco?

Any others e.g Micro Seiki and their tonearms?

Thoughts, suggestions, advice greatly appreciated to narrow down into 3 possibilities 😊

Of these I only have experience of the PL-71 which I lived with for a couple of years. It was as good a plug 'n' play deck as I've had and, so thoughtfully engineered in every respect right down to it sprung feet, that it left no obvious room for improvement. Iconic '70s Japanese aesthetics too.

Of those, the Kenwoods and the JVCs are excellent. I'm a big fan of the Sony PS-6750 but if budget is no object then why not go for an 8750? I think I'd put that top of everything else on your list!

I have 2 PS-6750's and can thoroughly recommend one for build and sound quality which for the money the sell for, you will get nowhere near with a modern deck. However as they are all pretty old now, be aware that they can require some fettling in respect of replacing caps etc. so buy with care. One of mine is fine with speed stability but the strobe has recently stopped working (no problem as apps are available to do that for you) The other has some speed drift which I intend to deal with as soon as I get the motivation to do so. Be wary of some of the older fully automatic decks unless the operation is mechanical as they may well be nothing more than an ornament when not working. I personally really fancy trying out one of the Sony TTS decks but an 8000 is way out of reach financially unfortunately.:stalks:
