Hi folks,

I am happy to share or find interesting thoughts about UK gear.
Today I´m using Croft gear (25RS/7R) together with a completely modified Kef 105.2 (new drivers from other brands)
and a vintage set with an Audible Illusion M3a preamp and an original Kef 105.1. Concerning poweramps I´m using a Musical Fidelity P170
and will receive a Quad 520F very soon, being ready for a comparison.

As analogue source I´m using a NA Dais and a DIY Drive which uses the L75 motor, idler and bearing with PTP steel plates in a Corian Plinth.

Cheers Marcus

Welcome to AoS Marcus,

So no interest in anything by Braun or Telefunken? Still it's nice to know you are enjoying some British designed and manufactured gear.

I use a Quad 520f in my second system for AV duties.

What are your tastes in music?

Enjoy the Forum

Hi Barry,

i have listened to a preamp made by 2 Vintage Telefunken
V74a Studio preamps connected to an Radford Sta 15. Well that sounded very musical to me.
We changed the Radford with a McIntosh Valve Poweramp ant all of the musical magic had gone.

I have auditioned the Quad against the MF and I will keep the 520f. It fits more to the Kef. The stage is a little bit narrowed but the Quad is a bit cleaner while the MF is too punchy with the B300.

Im considering to recap PSU and board caps. It uses ALC 5Pin print design. Have you modified your Quad?

Thank you all for your warm welcoming.
