A lot of people here really like the Beresford plus plenty of support around modifying it

Yeah, caiman gets my vote .. Stans a ledge and posts on here all the time so you can always ask him questions and the like...
Otherwise that new mf dac just got David price saying nice things about it... What's the buget

Budget is flexible but as I have just bought a unison research amp it s bit limited at the moment. Can do a couple of hundred although the least the better.
By the way I will be using the digital out on a xonar essence stx sound card, would that make in difference in your opinion?

A Caiman is a bit more than £200 I think - more like £230? Also depends what you want to plug into the DAC - do you need USB for computer audio, or just SPDIF, and how many inputs coax or optical?

Leaning towards the caiman at the present. Summer special £199 +p&p
Using usb doesnt appeal, so I intend to use the digital out from the xonar essence stx.

Just dropped a couple of q's to Mr Beresford, now eagerly awaiting his reply.

At £199 I'd say it's even more of a bargain.Nothing I've heard at the price to touch it really.

Didnt you sell a valve amp of some note recently?

Me? I've sold a few but none recently.Perhaps you're thinking of a Mr Liang 845 that used to belong to me that was sold recently?

Yes,me too when I bought it,but it turned up in a very good box with nary a mark.A very good amp, made better with a few tweaks.I'd never have sold it if it could've driven the statics properly.Unfortunately it was advertised at 20w/ch,but is in reality about 8w/ch.
