Home lifts

Hello, does anyone have any experience of lifts installed in a residential property? Not a a stairlift. Recomendations welcome,ta jim

mum in law has a home lift installed , had it for years . its been an absolute Godsend . mind you , don`t stand underneath it when she is coming down !! you might have a big headache . stairlifts have their downsides and these can really be great

you can get them and yes if youve room for one and you can get a chair in out etc then they can be a great option. a couple of folk near me had them installed, although i didnt fancy it personally.. way too small.. ive a stairlift which is great

one good thing with ceiling lifts is i think they are mains powered , with the stairlifts there is a battery i think ?

yeah stair lifts are battery, but the charger is on mains and always on.. in event of a power cut, you will have a few up n downs before it goes off. think wjhen my charger went once i had abot 6 uses before battery lost power.. there is a hand wind mech too on most incase of failure

thanks grant , good to know . few years back i painted the narrowest stairs ever with a stair lift in situ !! quite a challenge i can tell you . they are great though

good idea , are they affordable there ? they are crazy prices in brum. helping a friend in same situation

Awful things, IMO. Cost twice as much as a properly constructed 2 storey house. :scratch:

The air which we breathe can't flow up.

My brother died very quickly after being moved into a Bungalow.

Much as I hate height's, you gotta find a balance.

I want one of those Paris apartments with a first-floor balcony. Gaze upon Notre Dame and Sacre Couer, and you are golden. :)

I've been in a bungalow for 17 years, and I'm not dead yet. I expect that one day I'll "be moved into" a care home, and that'll see me off. If you have to "be moved into" anything, it's probably not a good sign :(
