So I picked up a pair of Tannoy Cheviots in amazing condition today. Had some Eatons a few years ago. Loved them then let them go and regretted it. Now finally found some bigger brothers and got a very good deal. They've been recently refoamed and done well but all else is stock.

So System now is.

Yaqin is running off of a Variac to keep voltage at 220v which helps with bias a lot.

Will keep the Tannoy Revolution XT6F for a while but they will be sold at some point soon as the Cheviots are not going anywhere period.

Nice looking Cheviots John, had a couple of sets myself. I bet they sound very different to what you're used to (in a good way :)).

I have listened to many speakers over the years but I still come back to my Cheviots which I have had from new (although re-coned by Lockwood some 18 years ago and new cone outer seal again this year from the gent who has taken on the work of Lockwood). In a bigger room than mine I would look for a pair of Ardens.

Looks like a great system John. Very nicely put together. I'm sure it sounds out of this world.

But don't reckon on it being your end system. I'm sure you suffer from the same ailment I and many others have - G.A.S. (gear acquisition syndrome).

Hi John, system and room is looking very nice!

A thought I had, I'm not sure how you have your speakers sited, on spikes or pads, but you might want to have view the video and have a read of this thread. https://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?71285-Experiments-in-Isolation&referrerid=5845

So far the best improvement I have found is with these https://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?71285-Experiments-in-Isolation&p=1233224#post1233224.

You never know for not a lot of outlay you might get a great improvement.:) Definitely worth doing if your floor is suspended.

Cheers

Adrian

PS Just thought it would be another system change:eek::lol:

Very tidy and smart looking.

How are you getting on with the Tannoys?

I did exactly what I said I wouldn't. Sold them on for a profit and bought a set of Cambridge Audio Aeromax 6's which are a revelation for the cost.

Made over £1200 in the process so cannot complain.

System is sounding great and I'm happy with cash in the bank to play with.

Migh build a set of pencils at some point.

'Cheviots staying there - period'.

:)

Sounds like you did a good trade. How did the Cheviots sound after the RFC refreshed xovers and other work you did?

The Pensil speakers sounds like a fun project to do.
