I’d owned a pair of SP1s previously and regretted selling them, so jumped at these when they were for sale a few years ago. I’ve since bought modern SP100 R2s at home, so these are for sale.

These are in really, really nice condition for their age. The veneer is shiny and bright and there are only a few marks – I’ve shown the worst on the top of the speaker (this is more of a dent than a scratch as you can only see if when the light catches it) and there are a few tiny paint spots on the side of one speaker. The grilles are in great condition and I can’t see any damage, though they would benefit from a clean.

They are not perfect, but considering they are 36+ years old, the condition is amazing. I wish I had worn that well. I have the boxes and a copy of a Spendor manual and receipt showing conversion from BC1 to SP1 in 1984!

I have a pair of unbranded, sand-filled stands that the buyer is welcome to take – not trolley stands. They are not in the best condition, but could easily be repainted.

I’ve been watching a pair of SP100R2s for sale for months now going for a silly price (someone PLEASE buy them – they are a steal at £2.5k). If there was more of a market for the SP100R2, I’d be selling mine and keeping the SP1s as they have a character I really enjoy.

They are in my office at work, so any buyer can listen to them running with my little olive Naim amp in a social distanced, COVID-19 secure environment. Office is near Warwick M40 J15. £600.

Never knew Spendor upgraded BC1s to SP1s, you live and learn! Nice you can see where they old BC1 label must have been under the SP1 label.

If these are better than the BC1 they must be very good indeed...
