Sincere apologies to all our loyal customers who pre-ordered Charles Mingus Ah Um Mofi One Step vinyl and have been waiting many many months for its release, the story we were told was that 3000 were pressed then Covid struck and the pressing plant was closed.

Those 3000 were sold to customers in the USA with the rest of us having to wait for the plant to re-open and the single press that makes these to get back up and running.

That has taken quite some time but we are glad to report that the balance have now been pressed and packed and are currently in transit from them to us.

ALL the pre-orders will be fulfilled as our full allocation has been honoured so orders will begin shipping out to you next Tuesday.

We even have some left over for new orders.

PM for your AOS special price on this gem.

They are not cheap, but are startlingly good IMO. The Hendrix one is amazing.

About £180

Thanks Adam - I'll stick with my '70s LP pressing and CD copy.

For a hundred and eighty quid I would want the master tape.

Don't you just hate 'teaser' posts and threads.

Get a £10 copy off ebay and spend the rest on crack, wine, or milky mars or whatever floats your boat.

Well, the fact is that we are never going to buy it ... because we know there is never going to be enough off the £180 'shop' price to make it a sensible buy (as a record rather than as an investment that is).

Its true that a lot of high end vinyl does not appeal to everyone so please if you feel that way start your own thread about it.

I have my stocks now of the Mingus pressing.

Can't comment on pressings but it's a great album and very well recorded so I bet it sounds great.

The bit in Goodbye Pork Pie Hat where the sax solo gets really reedy is one of my new component tests. Would love to hear it in the new pressing on a really good turntable.

A rather nice video from Dave Denyer un-boxing his copy.

Any AOS member who asked for one of these but has yet to send the money please note we have nearly run out and most of the new copies left are chancers on ebay who bought theirs to sell on at a profit so some are charging over £200 for a sealed copy.

Last few remaining are £150 each delivered in the UK
