I've been making some more cables for a friend...

Tonearm Cable:

Continuous lengths of silk covered solid silver inside some disembowelled coax, all the way from Clearadio cartridge tags...

... to Neutrik Profi plugs!

A lot more labour intensive than I'd imagined!

And a 0.5M pair of balanced to single ended phono leads. Shian7 'secret recipe' coax, Neutrik XLR and 'I can't remember what they are' gold plated RCA's.

All covered in 'Shian7 signature braiding'... of which I've just about ran out, coz I'm sending at all to Mark Grant!

Quality, Mikey.... :youtheman:

I'm sure Mark would approve of the workmanship! The lucky pup they're going to will surely enjoy them :)

Ta!

It was a fiddly job. Plaiting four long and rather delicate wires with only two hands took ages! Then pulling the centre core and dielectric out of the coax while leaving the braided outer intact to screen it (silk isn't particularly good for that) took quite a few attempts and the uttering of many profanities!

Even the yellow (I didn't have any green) earth wire is 'trick'!... Kapton (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kapton) coated (it shoud be OK in space then!) silver with PTFE insulation. It won't make a jot of difference to the sound, but hey, I've got to use it for something!

It's going on a Techie, BTW!

It does look the biz, Mikey, and I'm sure (both) will sound very good! So who's the chap with the Techy? Is he a member here, and if not, why not? ;)
