Hello all,
Thanks for the add. I am a Dutchman living in North Yorkshire and a music lover on a budget. I currently run Spotify Premium through a Tibo Bond 3 audio streamer via optical cable to my Yamaha DSP-AX861SE 7.1 AV Amp. I am bi-amping using QED XT-25 loudspeaker cable, at £6 per meter an absolute steal! I used to listen on Mordaunt Short MS906's which were really sweet and switched a few months ago to Wharfedale Pacific EVO 30's which were even sweeter. I thought I would leave it at that when I saw Wharfedale Diamond 230's being offered for £100. Already low on budget I offered £80 which was accepted as the owner was moving house and really wanted to get rid of them, so a superdeal!
I must say that the 230's didn't sound better to me than the EVO's, something I was hoping for with it being newer technology and all. But I have been running them for the past two days and they are sounding sweeter each day. I think the previous owner really hadn't used them that much, (they are pristine, some of the best I have seen on the second hand market in the £100 and below segment), so it might be a case of playing them frequently the coming days. I will keep playing them until Friday, it will have been a full week then since I got them and do an EVO vs Diamond test to see which ones I will keep.
My music interests are broad, alternative 80's was the music of my youth and keeps playing a huge role in my playlists of the day. I love Jazz/Fusion but also have been into metal since my childhood. Currently listening to 'Invitiation' by Jaco Pastorius right after listening to 'The Nothing' by Korn and the evening will bring some Brian Eno and/or Underworld I think, so my interests are quite broad.
