I know this will sound misfitting here but all I have at home is a cheap Sanyo in the kitchen and a Sony in the bedroom. I only get the chance to listened to other music in my car. I owned a project studio but it is being moved to Istanbul, Turkey as I am selling my building.

I listen to pretty much everything except things like death metal or the likes that consist of absurd noises. There are better ways to abuse your ears and numb your brain. I hope I do not offend anybody with this statement. In my teens (mid to late 70s) I used to listened to fusion-jazz all the time. Bands like Weather Report and artists like Pat Metheney, John Abercrombie or John Scofield. But as I got older I acquired taste for all styles, from classic to country. At home we have hundreds of vinyl that were left to my wife from her late brother. There is also a Trio turntable shelved somewhere. I am hoping to put them into use at some point. As I also design electronics I have plans to build a valve amp. However, currently I am interested to know what other people have and what the expectations are from an equipment.

Don't feel bad about the gear you have at the moment - we don't look down on anybody's equipment here in AoS. Just regard it as an opportunity for future upgrading. I'm sure, should you choose to ask, will be given some good advice - we have some very knowledgable members here who are, or have been, in Hi-Fi retail.

Sounds like you have a broad range of musical taste Sahib - I applaud you for that.
