I'm from Alabama. I like music, HiFi, art, sailing, watches, Russian Authors, French Philosophers, films from Japan, France and Sweden, and tennis. I listen to all Classical, my favorites are 20th century, Glass, Reich etc., all types of Jazz, Prog Rock especially Magma and Gong, African Music- Fela Kuti! I live close to New Orleans and go there often.

Do you have a first name we can use? We like to be on first name terms here as it makes for a more friendly forum.

I greatly admire your interests. I used to do a bit of sailing myself (35' Swan); love foreign films (most French directors, Ingmar Bergman, Kurosawa and Ozu,... you get the idea). We have some watch and clock collectors and restorers here. Me? I wear a Rolex.

French philosophers? Well we do have some members who are interested in philosophy (myself included, but I'm just a dilettante) some of whom I'm sure would be happy to discuss matters philosophical with you

Superb taste in music: don't restrict youself to only 20th century classical though. Jazz and African music - well, we have much to discuss and share.

Prog rock - again we have a member whose knowledge of this genre outstrips us all!

I waded through you photographs on flickr. We have a couple of professional photographers here to share your interest. Can I ask, did you have your Olympus (Lumix?) modified to take the C-mount Cosmicar lens? I have only just lost my digital virginity after 40 years of film photography!

And finally - your very last photo shows some audio gear. Thorens 124 Mk.I with Audio Technica AT1005 and a Denon DL103 ?

Wow! A TD121 - now that is a 'rara avis': a single speed (33 1/3 rpm) version of the 124, without the levelling bubble?

Would it be possible for us to see the rest of your gear: amps, speakers etc.?

I forgot, my Olympus E-PL1 uses a C-mount adapter from Ebay. With adapters it can use most lenses. I also have one for old Canon lenses. My TD121 is in excellent shape. I'm saving it for my daughter. Not many pics of my gear, but I can take some.

Ah! The AT1503/III - an arm that ought to be good with an EMT XSD-15. Nice one - bloody expensive though! You're lucky to have one.

Hi Orren, welcome aboard the good ship AoS. Great introductory post, and lots of common interests with people here. We did almost have a "show us your wristwatch" thread once I think, but no one was on hand to face up to it. Or maybe it was a wind-up? :lol:
