Shipping time

Has anyone noticed shipping rates are going up and delivery times are getting far longer.
And My Fed X order from parts express started with fedx and then was transfered to the U.S. post office in Sacremento Ca. for final devivery.
I ordered an Annoying Orange T shirt for my 1 year olds birthday tomarrow.
Stuffed in a big yellow envolope first class mail should be around $5.00 tops and 3 day delivery by air. But for 3 day delivery they want $12.00.
And there is no way I'll get it on time tomarrow,so it will be late.
What is up with shipping?

That's always been the case for FedEx in the U.S as far as I'm aware. UPS too. Using the existing USPS infrastructure for ground packages in a country the size of the USA makes more sense than trying to cover everywhere with your own people.

How much longer you will still have the USPS is of course a different question:)

Yes,It is failing miserably fast.
And simple priority mail and air mail is not what she used to be and we are paying more and more.

I expect soon they will deliver useing ileagal aliens by donkey cart.

Progress ain't what it used to be. We used to have a great set up here in UK by which a man would deliver fresh milk (and other dairy produce) to your doorstep every morning. The packaging (glass bottle) did not even need to be recycled they just rinsed out the empties and re-used them. The deliveries were made using a zero carbon emmission vehicle (AKA a 'Milk float')

Now you buy milk in a throwaway, expensive to recycle plastic carton delivered by 9 litre diesel articulated lorries to a supermarket you need to use a vehicle to get to just to buy the milk. And we are supposed to be going greener? Makes me laugh.

I've noticed shipping in summer is always delayed.
I guess it comes from the fact that they get plenty of temporary crew to replace people on hlidays... :(

The post office in the UK has been decimated by an incompetent idiot and their revenue is falling by the week now. It won't be worth sod-all now if they intend to privatise it. I only use the post office as an absolute last resort nowadays, as the 3 local rural post offices have been shut down and I am donald ducked if I am driving 10 miles to the main post office in the nearest town, pay to park the car and lug a heavy package nearly 500 yards then to wait for half an hour in the main post office. Not only that, you get the third degree about insurance, holiday money, internet and a dozen other things you wouldn't dream of going to the post office for before they even serve you. No, no, no!

Didn't these goons realise that the small local post offices were the main input portals for the entire system and it's now the equivalent of jumping off the end of a pier with a knife between your teeth if you want to have a fish supper?

I only use the post office for letters or small jiffy bags now. It is too expensive and inconvenient for anything larger. Yesterday, I popped into the post office to enquire about sending a 5Kg package to the USA. Air mail was quoted at £63. A cheaper option was send it by banana boat for a mere £51, but the delivery could take up to 56 days to arrive.

Getting back home, I consulted parcel2go (https://www.parcel2go.com/parceldelivery-uk.aspx) who I use a lot for delivering my ebay slaes and they quoted £45 using DHL with a 4 day delivery time. They would also collect the package from my house. Net result, a saving of 50% and about an hour and a half of my time.

Because you are paying for a system that is top heavy with highly paid but useless management who have early retirement and pension schemes that are so generous you would think they designed them themselves - oh, wait a minute...

Yes exactly. Its 30% cheaper for a 1st class letter in US compared to UK. USPS is expecting to make a loss of $9 billion this year.

I'm not sure all the problems are with USPS but inflated shipping oh and handleing fees.
All desighned to boost profit.In this case,I don't belive it applys though.
I have just noticed that things cost more and the service is lacking.

It seems you get alot less for your money in the UK,or mabey we just earn less.
Seems things are going down hill every where though.
