I have been accused of posting without the proper hello, and I'm sorry to say that I'm guilty on all counts! Honestly upon finding this great site I simply leapt without looking, and I now throw myself on the mercy of this august body - hope you'll forgive my impertinence.
My name is George and I've resided in Los Angeles for about 20 years, after moving here as the guitarist for a rock trio from Boise Idaho. Fame and fortune in the music business did not follow, but I gained a lovely wife, a job in marketing, and still have the passion for great music, both as a listener and a player.
My tastes run from early blues to sixties Brit, from Neil Young to Gentle Giant, from Gotan Project to Arcade Fire. I tend to keep music and audio equipment I like for, well, forever. I'm a tinkerer and a DIY type, and enjoy the chase and challenge of making something sing.
My main setup is an Njoe Tjube 4000 CD with upsampler, a Cary SLI-80 F1 Tube Integrated, and Triangle Celius ES speakers. I just recently dragged out the Technics SL-1100A TT I purchased new in the 70s. Amazingly the TT and the original Shure V15 Vmr still work! But this has set me on the slippery slope to optimize and upgrade the TT rig to fully enjoy the 200 or so LPs I've been dragging around for years.
So I'm sure that's more than anyone wants to know about me, but I'm looking forward to learning from the many experts on this site, and maybe even adding an insight or two down the line.
Cheers!
