Have you dealt with these guys, Marco? Would you recommend?

There’s something in that list I want... ;)

I think it would be interesting to here

Miyabi Mark Levinson MLC-1 https://www.dagogo.com/miyabi-standard-cartridge-review/

or

Rose Petal / Miyabi LOMC Mark Levinson

everything I have read about Miyabi cartridges says they are rather special, getting the details out the groove and presenting it wonderfully.

I’d like the Sony XL 55 Pro. It would be great on my PS-X70. Trouble is, it’s double what I paid for the turntable so not really an option.

I would be interested in a few of them:

The Audio Teckne MC6310

The Miyabi Mark Levinson MLC-1

The Win Labs semiconductor cartridge

The Stax 'capacitor' cartridge (but it would need the specialised phono stage)

and

The Sony XL-55 Pro.

thanks for the linky Marco, some very appealing carts amingst that lot.

If I could, the ones I'd love to hear, optimally set up in my sytem would be, no particular order:

-Ortofon MC3000
-Zu Audio Zu/DL-103R MK II Grade 1+
-ZYX Omega X

Be good to hear a Miyabi too I guess ....

I bet it would. Hopefully, it'll also sound decent on my PS-X9...

Haha, it should do, it was pretty much made for your turntable wasn’t it? Well, done and good luck with it.

Can't believe all those carts have only '10', '20', '100' hours on them, just don't believe that for a minute.

I quite fancy an EPC-100, but I have my doubts about the suspension.
It also won’t fit my current arm.

There are a few other interesting items on the list.

I can’t believe there is a modified AT95 though....

Well, I have to say, it’s not shabby. It’s not shabby at all! I’m very pleased with my purchase.

Pity my PS-X9 has developed a pitch wobble since I last used it... :(

None, can't see the fascination with old stuff, especially cartridges where you don't know how much hammer they have had.

This is what I currently own, no need for any more.

DS Audio Master1
NWA DH1
NWA DH3
Benz LPS
Acoustical Systems Fideles
Hana ML

various other cheapo ones for messing about with

Its a system mate, includes the phono amp as well, the newest model is called the grandmaster its about 40k!

The DS Audio cartridges are not standard they don't use coils or magnets.

Lol - need I remind you how much you raved about the G800, especially after Dom tweaked it with a posh stylus and cantilever!:ner:;)

I think most of the cartridges on that website will be NOS, which is the whole point - certainly all I'd entertain buying with vintage cartridges. And honestly, the best ones can often embarrass far more expensive modern varieties, especially when it comes to musicality. Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt...

The other angle of course is that if you have a vintage turntable, you may wish to partner it with original components, one of which may be a cartridge, so that's part of the 'fascination':)

Dude,
You cannot possibly have tried the cartridges I am referring to as no one loans out these babies, I respect what you are saying of course but example you won't have heard a DS Audio optical cartridge will you?

We all go our own routes with hifi and the G800 while very good is nothing compared to say a Hana ML, we are in different camps I know as I CBA fannying about looking for NOS cartridges but keep up the good work its a cool thread.

Marco

Sure, each to his or her own. I wasn't saying I'd tried the cartridges you were referring to, just stating what the 'fascination' is with vintage ones - and NOS ones are easily found if you know where to look:)

Marco.

Don't want or need vintage as I am almost there with what I listen to, only piece in the jigsaw to fill in is a new direct drive turntable design I and Nick G have been involved with which is nearing completion then that's me done system wise.

By the looks of it, press the Buy Now button, and it takes you to PayPal.
After the Rohmann?

I am half tempted by the MP-50.

karma67

No that would be a backward step imo sideways at best.

I emailed the website and asked for confirmation that the cartridge was still available, and requested the total cost including shipping. He did this and then sent me a Paypal invoice for the correct amount.

All very painless!

I suspect that the $5 simply reserves the cartridge for you as the total cannot be finalised until he knows where in the world you need it shipped.
