No, not for a studio-quality machine in that condition and having only 212 hours on the clock.

The A820 was nearly £50k back in 1986, when it was released - that's over £250k by todays standards. This one has been looked after, is ultra low mileage and is priced firm.

No implications about this particular machine, but generally, if there is so much value in low usage, as indicated by the analogue counter shown, isn't there an incentive to "clock" them like Arthur Daley used car salesman types did with cars years ago? Can they really be regarded as an infallible measure of hours used?

I think you would have to dismantle the counter and re-assemble to show a lower reading. Some equipment (not necessarily Studer) is fitted with an electro-chemical lapsed time recorder. I don't think these can be 'reversed'.

I also think you can tell by the head and guides wear on the usage if its been clocked
What did they replace the SAL capacitors with? Its hard to find a better alternative even now ?
