My wife has pointed out that there is something very wrong with my buy:sell ratio so here goes...

I think I've read all the rules and there isn't a minimum post count to sell here? If there is, please punish me / remove the post.

First up is an extremely clean Croft 25R including Phono stage. It's definitely mint condition. Nothing wrong with it, sounds superb but I'm using integrated amps all round at the mo. Glenn fitted Tocos Cosmos volume pots for me which are much nicer than stock. Even if you can't hear the difference, the action feels more expensive. Review here - https://hfc-fs.s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/s3fs-public/albarry_music_cosmos_review.pdf

I've got the original box too. £850 Posted.

I'm going to be posting up some valves soon, including Mullards and GE 5751s, let me know if you're interested in any to go with the Croft. Also going to sell my Series 7 after it's been serviced.

Next a Tisbury Passive Pre, again mint condition and in original box. £90 Posted.

Project Phono Box S. mint, with box. Strangely enough for a budget item, my favourite sounding phono stage after the Croft RIAA. It's a lovely smooth listen. £45 Posted.

Cambridge Audio Solo MM Phono Stage. Mint, boxed - £85 Posted.

ifi iTube2 Valve Buffer Line Stage / Valve Pre. A magical little thing. I used it as a pre for a Quad 303 and it sounded amazing. £230 Posted

I do also have a bunch of valves going. Not thought about pricing yet so this is an IC. I'll do a proper post for these at some point.

Hi Alfie,
Any news about the croft 25r that you sold me without mains plug?
Still waiting for your refund for the plug...
Cheers
George

I thought it was the accepted norm that mains leads are not included with equipment unless stated. I certainly don't usually include a lead when selling unless a buyer needs it. Mains plugs have a habit of damaging casework.

GeorgeWas it listed as included in the sale?

I never send a mains plug when I sell gear because I'm such a nice seller. I've received too many items with scratches to the case to want to risk the buyer receivng a damaged item. No matter how well they're packed plugs seem to find a way to shift and rotate so that the prongs are pressed against the case. I'll have a look on eBay for a cheap one for you.

There was no indication that it would arrive without one.
It should be mentioned.
Without it the 25r is simply not functional.
Does Glenn send his equipment also without mains?
He uses the same box right?
So he is sending damaged goods?
No...
So, you ll have to find a way to make your sale right.
I believe it is the right and fair thing to do.
I believe I should expect a mains cable or a refund.
Since as you say it's cheap, that shouldn't be a problem for you.

Well it looks like a minor misunderstanding or miscommunication perhaps. Nothing to get excited about, I'm sure a sensible resolution shouldn't be too hard to achieve.

The buyer appears to be in Greece so a UK mains plug would not work without an adaptor anyway.

I'm getting very funny but not serious answers and most of all, not from Alfie...
You know Mr Poirot we do have adapters in Greece...
I can understand supporting your friend but the ugly truth is that mains could be send in a small separate box. But he neglected to do so.
When someone buys an appliance new or used, mains is in the box.

The last sentence sums up the problem. The sales section of this forum is not eBay, Ali express or a discount shop. It’s a facility for forum members to enjoy.
The general accepted behaviour (as has been gently pointed out to you) is for forum members is not to include a mains cable ( exception being really unless it’s a power supply for a specific voltage).
It’s a cheap kettle lead globally available and does not render the amp unfit for use.

If you've got a dozen of them sat around then there must be some poor forum member sitting in a quiet room with 12 pieces of kit sat in the rack doing nothing as he's missing the power cables

Hello George, from what you write it seems the convention in Greece must be to always include a mains lead even for 2nd or 3rd hand , however in the UK & USA my experience of buying hifi items is that unless they are hard wired into the piece of kit, the buyer has the opportunity to buy any mains cable they want to connect it to the mains, sometimes manufacturers do include a power lead but this is always explicitly mentioned, from what i can see you got exactly what you bought and i'd take the opportunity to put whatever choice of power lead you like on the croft to maximise its performance ...my own particular cup of tea is Russ Andrews Powerkords which in every case have improved the performance of my kit over a stock kettle lead

:hmm:I can see this will run on and on and on

The 25R croft is £1.400 new , you got this one for £800 , That's a £600 saving on new
The original advert did not show or mention a mains lead ? or have i missed it
One member even commented how fair the price was .
You were lucky to find a seller who would ship outside the UK for risk of things going missing and not arriving.

Please just use a power lead you probably allready have or go and buy one out of the £600 you saved when you purchased the 25R

This is my last comment as it is now pi--ing me off :stalks: all over a 5 euro lead

I have just caught up on this thread and second your opinion above, quite unbelievable to winge about a stupid kettle lead. The chap should just go out and buy one, utterly ridiculous! Sound like a dealer to me.
