Hello folks on this wonderfully glorious day, just to let you know Coherent Systems have launched two new products in our CS Audio portfolio.
The has been a demand for a great many dc cables in the last few years with the rise of dedicated streamers/dacs/pcie cards/usb powered devices etc that use off board quality power supplies. We are very well known for the Belcanto e.One dc power cables and have been for over 10 years so we thought why not expand the range and have responded with our own CS audio dc umbilical cable service.

Simultaneously we are releasing our CS Audio QP-1 (Quiet Power) ultra linear dc power supplies. These designs have taken just over 36 months to finalize. Using our own proprietary technology we firmly believe (These have repeated benched tested with high end T&M equipment) that we have one of the most quietest and ultra stable power supplies available today. The QP-1 can be used with brands like Chord electronics, Arcam, Cambridge Audio, Beresford Audio, SoTM, Pi's, Asus Tinker boards, Routers etc. In fact pretty much any device that would benefit from a superior linear power supply.

The CA Audio QP-1 is available is various formats for a single rail to a pair of dual rail outputs. The QP-1 can be reconfigured if you change equipment and of coarse it works superbly well with our range of DC umbilical power leads.

Great news tony
Its a real pain trying to get stuff off BC now , they don`t make any of their psu`s

can you get the connectors to make BC cables to fit vbs1 and bel canto pre 3 etc

Yes we have a certain amount in stock from original cables as with the Belcanto DC leads it is on exchange basis.

Those plugs they use I have tried many times to source them they seem to have them tied up with a far east manufacturer I suspect.

Coherent Systems QP-1 power supplies have superbly quiet electrical noise properties (very low ripple voltage noise). We have pleasure in demonstrating the QP-1 incredibility low noise measured noise whilst actually powering a product they are connected to (real world measurements)

Many audio power supply manufacturers quote lubricious low figures in the specifications to catch potential purchases eyes. However in the real world we here @ Coherent Systems physically measure the current/voltages being used at the point entry in the dac/streamer/router/pre amp including the supplying umbilical cable (total transmission line) whilst the unit is in normal operation mode. This generates measured results that reflect a more 'truer' genuine figure. When comparing the finial analysis from the quoted to the actual real figure this tends to be somewhat different from those quoted in the spec sheets!

For example a high quality laboratory linear dc power supply can have a ripple voltage noise as low as 350uv (micro volts) 0.00035 of a single volt which is very quiet and ideal for making accurate measurements in the lab on a variety of products and projects.

If you were to power one of your audio devices from one of these very clean supplies it would demonstrate a very positive difference on the perceived sound quality.

After very careful design criteria and refining of the product our QP-1 linear power supply demonstrates a line ripple noise of under 18uv of ripple noise whilst delivering a solid 1 amp of current @ 12Vdc which is a very close to a 20 times reduction in ripple noise compared to the laboratory standard power supply! Measured ripple noise at these settings is 0.000018 of a volt. Power supply can deliver up to 5 amps of current dependent on customer requirements.

Below are images of the QP-1 in action connected to a laboratory DC load device which can simulate any dac/streamer/router/pre power supply dynamic load characteristics including turn on loads and sudden transients. The digital volt meter is an industry standard Keihtley DMM6500 6.5 digital capability with a resolution of 100nv all our test equipment is fully calibrated.

Also we FULLY test all our products for EMC compliance regulations and all relevant CISPER directives for each type of product are explored, second image shows our QP-1 having conducted emissions checked at a non load situation (stand by) protocol

What does this mean for someone considering an aftermarket power supply? The benefits can include, much lower noise floor, improved spatially, sound staging and depth. Bass definition and depth. With digital components it can also manifest as digital glare removal and a more natural and fluid sound. Possible benefits can vary form system to system
