Does it bounce back down onto the record? If not no harm done surely.

My old TD145 used to lift the arm at the end when the auto stop engaged. If it jumps it might just be a case of adjusting the tension (could be set for a heavy cart or headshell?) or a counterweight has come loose or something.

Yes it just jumps up but not back down as the arm lift has already engaged, a friend bought it and thinks it’s faulty .
