Shipping Dilemma. Advice/suggestions sought

I face a dilemma having sold my pair of Unison Research 845 monoblock power amplifiers. The point to point courier that my buyer wanted to use is furloughed. I am reluctant to use the usual suspects DHL/UPS/Parcel Force et al as they are'nt in the proper cartons and i don't want them damaged. I need to get the amps from my home near Hartlepool in Teesside to an address in Halesowen. Can anyone suggest a point to point courier or know of someone perfoming such a service. Packages will be disinfected just prior to pick up. Any help/advice/suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thinking out the box as times are uncertain...couple of thoughts.

Would it maybe be worth taking them in the car yourself, meeting the buyer half way at a service station or whatever?
If his favorite courier is unavailable then most reasonable folk would be flexible to something else?
3 Hr drive so hour and a half each way for you both.
Can agree on petrol costs n stuff I'm sure.

Maybe worth it for keeping the old stress levels at bay? :)

What about even putting out a shout on the forums for anyone that might be going that way anyway...An AOS/Wam Taxi type of thing?

It would be worth getting some quotes on Shiply.

The trick is to wait for plenty of quotes to come in before deciding. I didn't pick the very cheapest as I wanted a courier that had near perfect feedback. Probably worth investigating their insurance too.

Maybe speak to a local removals company who may have a load going that way. I would not like to trust a courier with such a vulnerable piece as that amp.

I think damaged caused in transit is incredibly overrated i.m.v. Never had a problem sending or recieving goods. Of course one bad experience would sour anybody I suppose.
Always go way over the top on packaging :)

My £1000 Jas Audio Orior Grands were both dropped by a courier and the bottoms of the lovely birds eye maple veneer were crunched, I was devastated.

Well I've recently sold a ton of Naim stuff and only UPS were able to ship it, due to weight etc, and I didn't have any problems

It certainly looks like my buyer has backed out so I will have to readvertise anyway.
