My sons and friends are organising this. I speak as a proud father only. All donations will be used, wisely.

Thank you, Marco. We are a mixed-race collective in my house. My sons, and friends, are passionate about integration and will treat donations with the respect they deserve. As you can see, every donation will be split equally between two charitable causes that they believe in.

No worries, you're welcome.

As am I. Hopefully your sons and his friends, as the future generation, will force a much needed and well overdue change in our society:thumbsup:

Thank you to those who donated. They had a target of £500 which they have more than doubled. They have raised their target to £2k now with all proceeds being shared between the two nominated charities. For those who doubt the intention, due to social distance, please read the Just Giving statement - this is about togetherness in mind, not body, with each athlete running their own race, under current guidance.

Yup, and they are to be applauded for that:)

My sons and their supporters completed all 26 miles of their marathon, yesterday. Against a target of £500, they raised more than 3k for a cause they passionately support. A very proud moment indeed so thank you to those who contributed.

Glad to see they're sensible enough not to raise funds for BLM who have turned out to be a Marxist revolutionary organisation seeking to bring down society and democracy as we know it.

Sent from my HRY-LX1 using TapatalkI think the words Marxist and leftist have been hijacked to besmirch any shift in political direction, especially when it involves young people.

Still, I think their choice of charities is sensible, as you suggest.

I get what you're saying but in this case I don't think that's true. This is from their gofundme page (which I checked the other day to make sure it wasn't fake news):

“We’re guided by a commitment to dismantle imperialism, capitalism, white-supremacy, patriarchy and the state structures that disproportionately harm black people in Britain and around the world.”

Sounds pretty revolutionary to me. I've also found quotes from their activists in left wing news sources that capitalism is inherently a racist structure.

Anyway I don't want to distract from your rightly being proud for your son and his friends making the effort to raise money for a cause they believe in, especially given the bad press in recent years about the Snowflake youth of today and their sense of entitlement :)

Revolutionary, maybe, but most of the above I'd happily see dismantled, if not eradicated completely!

Imperialism? I utterly abhor that antiquated shite. Check. Capitalism? Mmm.. Reduce it significantly from its current level and increase socialism instead [with a fairer and more equal division of wealth]. Check. Patriarchy [ can't stand that ancient thinking - let's have more equality for women!] Check. "State structures that disproportionately harm black people in Britain and around the world" I'd have to know exactly what was meant by that, but in principle, yes, as I abhor anything that 'disproportionately harms black people' (or anyone else for that matter).

And as for white supremacy... Well, that's quite simply outright abhorrent, and has no place in civilised modern society!!

So what's the problem - *AS LONG* as protests are done peacefully? :)

What I want is FAIRNESS and EQUALITY for ALL, regardless of race, creed, sexuality or colour, with ZERO discrimination against anyone. Everyone should be judged simply on their merit as an INDIVIDUAL. *THAT* is how the world should be - and therefore anything which fights for that cause, and in that respect seeks to CHANGE the status quo, I *vehemently* support!

:exactly:

I thought you'd have a view on that :)

I agree many of the current structures that keep our society going are not really fit for purpose in modern times. The UK civil service being one such that is at least being worked on as we speak.

The main issue is this lot would probably replace them with an old school Communist system complete with Gulags and the rest. And choose who goes in those Gulags - anyone who actively disagrees with them. We're already seeing them getting hounded out of their jobs and receiving death threats from the online mob.

Well, *if* that was the case, then I'd be against that just as much as I'd be against all of the above!

Why do people always seek EXTREMES and want the world to revolve around only their own selfish interests and beliefs? I abhor extremes of ANY kind, as the concept simply creates unfairness and division. What's wrong with living in the liberal middle ground, where there exists a happy medium, and we strive to have FAIRNESS AND EQUALITY FOR ALL?

That's where I choose to live!:)

I constantly see this kind of language - leftist, snowflake, anarchist, Marxist and remoaner. It's used to close down the debate and is unhealthy, in my view. We are a badly divided society and inequality is rife, and not just fiscally so.

Exactly! So for me, anything positive that helps us become MORE equal and LESS divided, is good in my book.

I've never been fan a of 'ists' or 'isms', as they represent EXTREMES... However, I'll create a couple more 'isms' I'd be in favour of: 'Equalism' and "Fairism' - I'd sign up to both!

Quite simply, the world would be a damn sight better place if we all practiced more COMPROMISE and TOLERANCE!

Just read Thierry Henry has withdrawn his support when he found out what they are trying to achieve.

Yes indeed, like land ownership for instance? Completely strangling businesses, and now Covid has come along, what chance do they have? I think a lot more shops are going to be turned into flats, all tenants on housing benefit of course, cos there will be so many job losses once the Chancellor takes away his furlough.
