I purchased this EAR 834P 2nd-hand and never really used it. Only a friend of mine used it for a couple of months. Reason, bought a Rega pre-amp with the turntable and never left it.

Overview
The EAR 834P is by far the most highly regarded modestly priced phono stage and likely the best buy in affordable high-end tube phono stages and is EAR's most popular phono amplifier in England. It is available in 3 different models.

The EAR 834P uses the same circuit architecture as its more expensive brothers, and shares in the same high-quality sound through MM type cartridges. It is enclosed in a tough, rigid metal case, and is fully CE type-approved.

Top of the range, the 834P Deluxe comes in a stunning chrome and gold cabinet, and has extra attention and quality control and is for the true vinyl enthusiast. With different input options (MM/MC), this unit will fit the most demanding of audiophile systems.

Deluxe Chrome finish at $2595 features great looks, premium extra rigid heavy chassis, expanded circuit layout to reduce noise floor & premium quality RCA's. Sonically the Deluxe is 5-10% better.

From Basic through Signature to De-luxe, the performance remains class-leading.

Specifications
Maximum output: 30V
Noise (unweighted): -80 dB (1HF)
Tubes: ECC83 x 3
MM Input sensitivity: 2.2 mV for 1 V at 1kHz (53db gain)
MC Input sensitivity: 0.22 mV for 1 V at 1kHz (70db gain)

Button switch out for MM/MC

I don't have the original box, but will ship overseas.
Note, might be needing new valves, one channel has less gain than the other (specially noticeable with MC cartridges

Have you tried swapping the valves from side to side and noted if the imbalance moves across ?

Circuit doesn't work like that iirc. There are 3 stages, each using both halves of its ECC83 (which is a dual triode), one half for each channel.
However, I would still suggest taking out each valve and re-seating it, as ime this can often 'clean' the sockets sufficiently to restore good electrical contact and solve the problem.
Nice phonostage.

Tubes should last for years and years in these stages as I have one too. I would also suggest switching tubes around to clean contacts. They also respond well to tube rolling also.

I know. I need to sell these quickly Has I've made several investments recently. I will either sell it as it is to the new owner, with a discount or, if requested, can ask the Ear distributor to have a look into it.
