Seems like an interesting design, Keith, and in my opinion, a good-looker. Any chance on some more info on the technicalities? :)

Marco Hi, there is some info on the Spiral Groove site, ( and I have asked SG to send me some more technical info ) but basically it is a true constrained layer design, which aims to drain away energy from the cart asap.
The platters spindle and bearing are decoupled and driven around the rotational plane of the bearing, there is a 12volt ac p/s with analogue sine wave generator.
The Centroid tonearm places the counter weight directly above the pivot point, it has always sounded good when I have heard it at Munich ,so I have high hopes.
It only arrived yesterday,so I will report after I mount the XV.

Keith,

....it is a true constrained layer design...

.....so is there something going on, in the way of other layers, underneath that lovely chunk of Ash? Actually, now I see the discontinuity in the figure of the wood - which means it's chunks of Ash. So it is solid wood rather than a veneer.

Anyway, how are the layers made up & what are they made from?

The table is Ash, the turntable is aluminium mostly ,phenolic ,and some other stuff, the platter is phenolic, vinyl, and graphite.

Oh, OK I thought the Ash was part of the unit, apologies. Sorry I go a bit funny when I see wood!

Interesting. Please do, as I'm sure people would be quite interested in that :)

Shame is thatI'll never get the chance to hear one properly, let alone ever afford one.

This deck is screaming "classic" and has a lovely retro feel, despite the bang up to date technology within. I suspect it'll be almost an investment and will depreciate very slowly if at all.
