Doesn't bother me, but maybe best left out during formal introductions. ;) I've always wondered what you guys thought about the term Brit. Is it just an everyday word?

I've always wondered what you guys thought about the term Brit. Is it just an everyday word?

Just an everyday word I would say, just purely an abbreviation, though I suppose it could be seen in some contexts as negative - "Brits abroad" would make me think of "lager louts" or tourists that search for a restaurant that does fish and chips or roast dinners, just like home...

I can't drink Coopers any more as it gives I gout, as to the system, I brought the Rock, Copland, KI Sig, Denon and Howards with me. Picked up the rest here. Recently sent the RB250 back to glasgow for an rewire and foam fill by AO, it was actually cheaper than getting done here.

Yeah yeah, I've heard that one too. What I want to know is who the hell would have ever thought of such a... product?? That is so weird! In Kobe, Japan there is a place called Merkin Park. :rolleyes:

No country in the history of the world has squandered its wealth like the UK of GB and NI. That's my two cents;)

I've visited the U.S many times , business and pleasure - fabulous country and people. There is, and always has been some anti-U.S feeling in the UK. I've found that feeling to be exclusive to those who have never actually been there...

I'm pretty sure they don't know or care what a merkin is here. During the Meiji Restoration Period, when Japan opened it's ports and started going through it's cultural transformation, the area that is now called Merkin Park was a large colonial settlement, with a large American population.

I'm pretty sure that name came from some Aussie guy tapping someone on the shoulder and saying, "Hey, you should call this place 'Merkin Park'. It's short for American, teeheehee!". :rolleyes:
