Hi,
I would appreciate the opinions of the 'amp specialists' in this here forum, as to what this looks like (on the surface anyway, obviously without a schematic it's hard to be sure) - looks like it operates in Class A for all the power I'll ever use.

It's a class AB certainly but how much is class A is wholly dependent on the standing current.

That isn't given so very difficult to know.

The listing states max 100W in Class A, so I guess that depends on bias.

F5 would be better for sure, but they give off a lot of heat, also depending on how nice you want it to look, the case/heatsinks can be expensive,
i'm also looking to build an F5, but might also build a ESP P101 for something cooler running. https://sound-au.com/project101.htm

I wouldn't trust that to run more than 10 watts class A. There is not enough heat sinking, and the fins run the wrong way to dissipate the heat.

I agree with Blackdog, when I saw 100 Watts Class A a little work out resulted in 344 Watts continuously to be dissipated by those heat sinks, at +/- 45 Volts about 3.8 Amps.
The 10 Watts would be fine though, few speakers actually need more, most of the time we listen to about 0.25 Watts.

Colin Wonfor is just about to release the latest PCBs for his SECA amp which will do up to 40wpc of pure Class A with suitable heatsinks. I guarantee it will pee all over the one the OP referenced. I’m going to be making a mono block version.

I agree on the we listen to about 0.25 W
On Hifidog amps we are running 240 W dissipation per channel

F5 can be scaled up from the original Papa (Nelson Pass) design

so far 24v traffos to get 32 V rails

I am tempted to go higher but 60 V caps are expensive but then I do not think I need more head room as most of the time we listen to .25 W any way
