Selling my Valab LCR-1 phonostage, complete with original documentation and original box. Selling because I don't play enough vinyl to justify keeping several phonostages. It was a tough call between this and the GS Accession MC, but the latter's mono-switch ultimately carried the day (that's how good this is, and how bland I am).

I am the second owner. It is in fine technical condition, optically as new with the exception of a small dent in the bottom-left corner of the main unit (details available for your inspection in the photo album). It was already there when I bought this from the original owner, but never really bothered me.

The virtues of this phonostage are sung extensively on the net -- you'll forgive me for not adding to this praise.

I am in Brussels, but will be happy to post this in the original box for 15£.

Looking for 500 £ for this, which I think is a fair price in view of the optical blemish.

Images ought to be posted at the same time as the 'for sale' thread, rather than just leaving them as a link. I'll transfer them for you.

Apparently this Mk2 unit is a better performer than the current Mk3 incarnation.
Good price too

Not sure where you get that from. The MKIII is almost universally thought of as superior in online reviews:scratch:

Hi drew
I didn’t make it up Honest!!

the MKII apparently has an unmodified RIAA
This is supposed to outperform the MK3

Have you seen reviews where they compare the two units ?

Guys, including you Alan, may I remind you that this is someone's sales thread, and therefore not a place for such discussion or the use of derogatory language, which is tantamount to thread crapping.

Therefore I will prune the thread later. In future, would you please check which part of the forum contains the posts you're responding to before replying, rather than just doing so without bothering looking - ta!:)

Marco.

Apologies if I set the ball rolling on this, it was only after I noted the unit had indeed been sold. As a final comment I would say that that people often confuse the Lounge Audio LCR MKII and MKII for the Valab LCR MKII and III. Needless to say they are completely different units. Anyway, Kevin at Valab can explain the MKIII improvements over the earlier model much more eloquently than me...

I had noted that the stage had been sold and just called out the apparent stupidity in counting capacitors as a way of telling the quality of a phono stage.

It does sometimes beggar belief the ridiculous notions that find their way into 'common belief' without technical understanding.

Still, sales ads aren't the place for doing that, mate, regardless of whether the item advertised had been sold or not.. Keep it for threads on the main forum. Remember the rules in this respect, [which apply to everyone]:
