Died from Covid19. Another sad loss: I always liked the Stranglers.

He was the Ray Manzarek of the late 70s on.

Superb keyboards on Rattus, Nice 'n' Sleazy etc.

I know what I will be listening to tonight.

Bye Dave.

:( RIP. Loved The Stranglers back then, not played them for a long time, I too will rectify that. So sad.,

Very sad. Saw The Stranglers several times in the 70s and he held the band together.

RIP to another great musician and songwriter.

Of the many musicians I've listened to, Dave Greenfield's sound is one of the more instantly recognisable. RIP indeed.

Very sad indeed, Dave's keyboard style was unique, and very recognisable, another huge talent lost to the music world, R.I.P Dave, you will be greatly missed.

That's a very astute observation Justin.

I was playing some Stranglers yesterday, and your comparison with Ray Manzarek is spot on!

I was thinking the same thing too, as i was reading Justin's post! :)
They both had that skill of melodic free style playing, that would draw you in, and take you along with them.
