View Full Version : Is your Internet broken?
Been noticing recent slowdowns, stutters and long waits...even on the basic stuff like loading a Webpage.
On a 350MB connection here rock solid up till now, but now I have problems.
Troubleshooted network, it’s not at my end.
Network locked down secure so no schennigans, not used to webpages taking 5 minutes to load though like it’s 1995!
Anyone else?

There are issues with Virgin media, if that’s who you are with.
Same here, Gaz, and as you know I'm also with Virgin. All seems cool now, though:)

Yes we've had a few glitches with Virgin this evening.

TBH, it's the first issue I've had for over a year. Everything here normally runs without a glitch.

I don’t have too many issue usually with Virgin media, apart from their pricing.
Lol - we saved a fortune moving to them from Sky!

Think many are running a tad slower as they get much more extended use.
Also some will glitch at times

Was a bit flakey all night, hopefully will be fine today.

Two long dropouts yesterday morning. Plusnet. Reset two phones, two tablets and computer only for it to drop out once more. All ok today fingers crossed.

Not sure if it has anything to do with the current 'lockdown', but I've been passing some spectacularly large stools recently. Some of them have required three flushes to clear: I think Marco might have been impressed! :D

Why are you shocked Marco? I was replying to your and other's previous posts. Anyway you and Pigmy seem to take great delight in mentioning 'bodily functions' at every opportunity. ;)
Don't think my diet has changed much: it's been largely things like casseroles, hotpots, coq au vin and chilli con carne. Photos to appear in the appropriate thread soon.
Thanks, Happy is keeping well and safe - but bored witless with the lockdown: she's a very social animal and needs human contact. She doesn't read much or watch TV, but does enjoy music, so that is some distraction for her. We phone one another three times a day, but it's all a bit stressful; especially as her daughter is still here (visiting from Cameroon, but there are no return flights running as yet), but she cannot see her as her daughter is staying in a house with a mother and her new born baby and the baby's health and safety is paramount.

I was lucky to get that on BT. Usual speeds were more like 5 meg down at a push and mebbe 0.2 up speed. Have since changed to Boundless wireless service and guaranteed 30 meg down usually up to 33 and a good healthy 10 meg up. Makes huge difference while doing radio now. Before i would struggle to stream at 128kbps now can comfortably play at 320.

Not much different to mine and I'm in West London!
In West Hampsted, London using an EE 'dongle' wi-fi stick with the laptop, we get 4.6Mbps download, 2.6Mbps upload and 37ms latency.
Fast enough for surfing the net, chatting to you lot and for internet shopping - but I would imagine hopeless for downloading films etc.
Here, just outside Chelmsford, with a BT landline, I'm getting 36.2Mbps download, 7.2Mbps upload and 35ms latency.
about 27mbps usually here. upload 6/7 mbps
Not much different to mine and I'm in West London!
That's 'cos you're too tight to pay for anything better!:ner:;)

9.97 MBPS upload

Mine is in the 71 down and 19 up, but I don't think it is any better than 30 down and 10 up because the limiting factor is not me but the servers I am trying to connect too. :rolleyes:

I stream them mostly marco, although i have some on hdd as well. dont need silly speeds for it as i dont do 4k etc... anyway this is as fast as i can get here...27mbps
