View Full Version : Help needed with damaged Tannoy base plate

Heeeeeeeeeelp!!Can anyone here assist me with a huge problem? I have a pair of Tannoy Precision 6.4 loudspeakers which to my dismay i cannot obtain a replacement base/outrig platform for. I have contacted Tannoy UK and opened a ticket explaining the problem i have. So far i have had one reply. I realise this is because of Covid19 restrictions though the reply i got informed me that "they don't have the driver i need" which is not what i informed them in the first place. I have heard nothing from their online service since. Can anyone with a 3D printer and / or the skills + machinery to make me such a replacement please show their hand? I am hearing from certain sectors in the industry that few spares are available for these speakers which i find alarming. Any assistance will be appreciated. I still have the dameged base board with all metal componants in tact. Only the fibre board was damaged.

Looks like high density board with projecting lobes, not difficult to make with the right gear. Somebody like RFC or Phonomac might be able to help.

any cabinet makers or antique restorer's near you will copy that,very easy job.

I would replace both in MDF, using the in tact one as a template, and toughen the bare material with diluted polyurethane varnish mixed 50/50 with white spirit, which will toughen it up, and reduce Q, and then be perfect for spraying.
