Admin, if this post is not appropriate, then please delete it.

The forum is called - HiFi Hangout. It's run by Andrew, also know as username ''Westie'' & ''Cartman'' Some of you will know him.

What happened to, was it 'Audio Addicts', run by Ollie (Bigman80), and which I believe was owned by Andrew? Is this new place just a rehashed version of that? The layout looks identical:scratch:

I don't look much at other forums (simply don't have the time), so some 'history' is required here.

I think Ollie is still running Audio Addcits. I'm not entirely sure though, I left Audio Addicts a few months ago.

Andrew started Hifi Hangout a few days ago. Only joined yesterday.

Ok, thanks for the clarification. Have Andrew and Ollie split up then?

Good luck to Andrew in his new venture, but I'm afraid the reality is that there are already WAY too many forums and not enough folk to actively populate them, and so keep them going in the long term - and in that respect I mean like pfm, Wigwam and here, which have all been going for many, many years.

Plus the folks there are, who are into hi-fi sufficiently enough to want to post on forums about it, are currently members of all the existing ones, subsequently diluting the potential audience even further!;)

Anyway, as I said, good luck with it:)

Whilst it might be refreshing to have a forum dedicated solely to 'Hifi', free from threads on cars, coffee, watches, holiday snaps etc., to eschew posts on DIY and "bodges" is rather akin to throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Where is all the fun to be had with chopping and changing interconnects or tube rolling?

We will have to see how the forum develops - but at the moment it looks quite dull and uninteresting.

Barry (who never fell for all the Linn LP12 hype, and thinks the Linn Kans to be horrid little "squark boxes". :sofa:)

Might take off as after the plague, if there is an after, money may be tight, so diy might take off again like olden times when men were men and sheep were afraid

Yes,it's wording is to exclude , rather than include..... not a good foundation, like those contributing MUST meet a certain standard... not good at all, to see anyone excluded,
Forums using those tactics, will just fade away.

Oh dear, and indeed so. I didn't even get as far as reading the site's 'official description'.... Why not just create a blog, and allow comments on topics from registered users? For me, that would be a much more viable concept.

Just had a poke round this "Hifi Hingoot" forum, as I was curious as to why this Rudi guy was getting such glowing references... saw one thread where he admits to having almost zero interest in music, but there seemed to be plenty of posts detailing how much money he makes. Shame about the lack of interest in music, apart from that he sounds like an absolute delight :)

The good thing though [as far as I can see] is that Andrew's keeping a tin lid on him badmouthing folk he doesn't like, and so he's limited to posting about his usual vulgar, endlessly repetitive and mind-numbingly tedious, materialistic bragging.

Well I did see in one of his poets a reference to The Land of The Rising Flatpack, and did wonder whether it may be one of his aliases, or perhaps a friend. What am I talking about, a friend! I've come across gobshites like this before, playing the Big I Am. They only hold my attention for about 5 seconds, so I'm afraid Hifi Hing oot will have to live without my fart stories. Their loss.

I'm surprised @southall-1998_mk2 is promoting a forum which allows the rabble on who have lampooned and obsessively posted hatefully against him on SnakeOil?

Marco
06-05-2020, 12:49
I don't think Shane's the type to take too much to heart, and therefore tends to let such mindless shite simply wash over him:)

You have to remember that Peck (and his fellow sad inadequates) are the products of an unhappy and dysfunctional upbringing, therefore it follows that that will result in psychological problems, and has ably been seen, abnormal, antisocial behaviour in adulthood, the likes of which is evidenced on every forum he (and they) have been banned from.

Therefore, pity is arguably the more appropriate emotion to levy at them, rather than hatred.

a forum should welcome everyone with something to say.

I guess so.

If I ever ran a forum, everyone would be welcome, even people who'd banned me from their forums. Of course some of them would fight like cats and dogs, because they always do, but I'd just let them get on with it. If it got too lairy, though, I'd arrange for the parties involved to have a stand-up fight outside the nearest Wetherspoons. Handbags would of course be provided so they could observe social distancing whilst scrapping.

Macca
23-05-2020, 13:49
Handbags with those long shoulder straps? yes I can see how that would work.

With the Wetherspoons by me you'd have to wait for the existing fights to finish before you could host yours though. But I suppose everyone can have a drink whilst they hang about.

Nice idea. In practice though, it wouldn't work, trust me as someone who knows, been there and done that!

Unless of course you just wanted to host a virtual version of a fight in a pub carpark, with no proper hi-fi content or anything else, as there's no way most folk would sift through multiple pages of fighting, to find a morsel of useful info hidden among all the mayhem!

The reality is you'd have about 10 members and it would very quickly become very, very tedious.

Lol, no worries. It's really piss-easy... In the reply box, above where you type a post, you'll see three 'strips' of symbols.

Go to the one in the middle starting with the letter 'B' (for inserting emboldened text) and count 13 along to the right, until you see a symbol that looks like a square with the letter 'V' in it.

Click on that symbol, and then enter the full URL (all the text contained in the address bar of the YT video you want to post, just copy it), then paste it into the 'Insert Image"/URL box, and click 'Ok'.

Then post your reply, along with the above and the video should be embedded and ready to play:)

Yup, that's the point though, dude. Unhappy and unfulfilled losers, who are disillusioned with life and ultimately angry, all like huddling together to moan about how unhappy/unfulfilled and disillusioned they are, often by 'poking' people who clearly are the opposite, as it irks them because they're jealous!

Essentially, they hate happy and contented people who are obviously enjoying their lives [as it highlights their unhappiness], and so seek to drag them down to their level, in an effort to try and make them as unhappy as they are:doh:

AoS = full of happy and contented people. Many other forums (especially Hucker's cesspit) are populated by the complete opposite. So best to ignore them and/or just sit back and laugh at how insignificant and pathetic they are:D
