I have only recently bought this alongside another 306. This one has had the speaker binding posts replaced and new caps fitted. It has also had the feed forward bridge balance adjusted. I have chosen to keep the stock version as it is a little better cosmetically.
There are a few marks on this commensurate with age (some scratches on top and a couple to the heat sink) but it is generally in pretty good order. I'm looking to get back wha I paid for it which is £190 posted.

This was Alan Firebottle's explanation (he was the one that carried out the work)...
_As it is a current dumping amplifier there is a set of four components that forms a bridge (4 components connected in a square) that balances the driver and output stage.
As built it is felt that this bridge is out of balance, hence the advice on a couple of sites to change one of the resistor values._

Thanks for clearing that up for me, I take it you're not impressed with the mods having chosen the stock amplifier from the two?
I'd like to take a chance and offer £155 inc for it

It is usual forum etiquette to discuss Private Exhibitions negotiations via PM's.
Really? Can't discuss in the forums??
You dont haggle on a sales thread. If you want to make an offer, then it should be by PM.

He did mention he was keeping the stock version as it was cosmetically better.
We don't go in for public low offers here....it's not avforums you know! :-)
Do you know what the word 'forum' actually means? I find that chatting in the forum about an item for sale keeps everything transparent, had a read of the rules and can't see where it states 'offers via pm only' I get pm's regularly with low ball offers btw
Thanks
Hi Simon,
The mods have already told you how we do things here, and any decisions they make on that basis aren't up for debate, so kindly respect that or I'll have to take disciplinary action against you.
I'm not going to be lectured to about something that was between me and the seller, when I first joined I was prompted to read the rules before using the classifieds, I did and nowhere does it mention offers by pm only, do your worst
Including any more backchat like that.
Cheers!:)
Marco.
No it's called a community, and there are acceptable and unacceptable ways of behaving. Clearly though, you don't know when to shut up and do what you're told, so consider yourself banned for a week. You can use that time to examine your behaviour and see whether you can fit in here or not.
Marco.

Cheers, Grant. I'm thankful for the free bumps in any case!

done.. all part of the service... alas sometimes folk just wont listen;)
i'm tempted by this, i actually have no 'need' but i like this amp, and never got to try one yet.
I just spent ages doing a full restoration on a dead 303, and although somewhat flawed sounding, it has real charm, it's peaked my interest in the later Quad amps,
going to ponder this over a while, in the meantime take my rambling as another free bump...
