View Full Version : WANTED: Rega P2 upgrade
Hi,
it's time to upgrade my Rega P2 (bought last year but never satisfied with sound), I have an AT OC9-XML cartridge and I'm looking for a turntable with arm preferably of suspended type.
My budget is 300£ included arm.
Trade it in for a P3 and get a dedicated wall mount.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200417/cc1a156e01709a0732711a69a02da32b.jpg
The RB330 will get the best out of your cartridge, I've got an ATF7 on mine and it sounds superb

Are you interested in a vintage suspended deck? I have a Thorens TD166 Mk VI in good condition and also a Thorens TD160. Both are in good working order and I could fit an excellent Linn LVV arm within your budget. I have other arms as well - Rega RB300 and Rega R200.
Vintage is ok if in good conditions.
My first choice would be an English turntable and I'm in love with Mission 774 arm.

I have a CJ Walker CJ55 in very good condition. I have Linn and Rega armboards for it. However if you are in Italy that's probably not a proposition.

+1 on the SYSTEMDEK either iix or iiX900, if not then an Ariston RD80/RD80SL.
I recently picked up an RD80SL with Linn Basic plus & A&R P77 for £200 delivered from eBay, a tad scruffy but nowt a bit of time and elbow grease can't sort out.

I can confirm the OC9 works very well on the e 166 vi.
I had this combo which was excellent The OC 9 also works very well on the Rega arm indeed Thorens used to sell this same deck with the Riga arm as an option back in the 90s.
You will need decent isolation with the sprung thorens as it is sensitive to footfall so best used with a wall shelf.

Ps although a lot of people prefer the 160 don't dismiss the 166 as it is a little more lively and modern sounding than the more vintage flavoured 160.
