I'm looking for a nice passive pre that will not break the bank. I've seen all of the very cheap ones on eBay some of which look excellent value but wanted to see if anything was available on the used market first.

If you do not mind making a few solder joints and wiring between boards then this will provide as quoted
" as being the BEST passive preamp they had ever heard "

If you want a nice one have a word with Ant of BTE Designs, he’ll build whatever you want, number of inputs, number of outputs, type of pot, type of switch blah blah. I had one from him built in olive wood to match my audio note speakers

Let me know if you want his details.

Another vote for Ant. Makes quality passive preamps and turntable restorations at very reasonable prices

Bought an immaculate Audio Synthesis pro passion passive recently on a bit of a whim. Glad I did its added a lot to my system ( quad 909 ), or should I say its added nothing ;)

read a review not too long ago , that pre amp trounced most of the others costing a great deal more .

As always thanks hifinut. I've looked up this pre and the manufacturer states a power amp of at least 20K is needed I have a Quad Elite QSP on approval which is only 10K.

Hi Jeff
Tried pm ing you but your box is full. If your BTE is compatible with a power amp that has an input impedance of just 10K then I'm intersted please pm me.

I've been using a Little bear for a few months now. It is fantastic value for money and for a small outlay you will be able to see if the passive route is for you and for under £30.

Yup, considering the price of some of these modern exotic pre amps to find something like the pro passion for a few 100 squid is a wonderful thing me thinks
Good luck with the search Nat :)

I’ve now ordered a custom built passive from Anthony @ BTE designs it is as follows.

Base unit
Silver wiring
Tkd 2cp2511 mechanical volume
2x inputs
1x variable output
1x fixed output

Great value for money and built to fit my pre and my budget!
