Hi Andy, the isolation platform is 12mm acrylic I believe - nice stuf.

Hi Adrian and thanks! The panzerholz plinth was made by The Don himself, Angus Phonomac, I gave him my desired plinth dimensions, he made it and put everything together.

A lot of work has gone into doing it right, not only for the SP10 motor/platter but the EPA-250 tonearm as well. I've been round it, under it - top work from the man as always, he covered all bases and doesnt cut corners, so electronics are checked, replaced, improved etc !

I'm tired through late night going through tunes, still going through my fave, familiar albums as we speak - will have to force myself away at some point......

You might eek a little more performance out of the deck by swapping acrylic with Panzerholz or Permali and getting a similar platform made for the PSU. I'd be looking at what the other components on your rack could be adding into the deck and trying to further isolate them from your deck and the deck from the stand your using. You might also want to try four permali + ball-bearing footers underneath the feet of your hi-fi rack. I've used similar tactics myself and got a small but nice improvement.

Looks bloody fab mate. like a beautiful piece of Japanese furniture with the exposed panzer on the plinth sides. Ive gone for a similar look on my articulating armboards but with ebony veneer on top.

I just know that will be one of the best sounding spinners you are ever likely to come across . Nice work

Usually most prefer for whatever reason Obsidian marble which seems to be the originl base. I dont own any of this but I had a lesser model SL1210mk5 whch I sold off as I didnt have the time for the dedication.

Must have brought you hours of immense pleasure.

Some very dedicated isolation devices I noitce. Happy listening !

The 'isolated button on the plinth' is in fact the stylus guard - the deck was in full action when I took the pics :D

The record weight is Pathewings Panzerwood. They do different weights as well 290g, 360g and 470g. Was love at first sight, hence I sold the weight I had at the time to fund this one :)

I thought I'd been a bit indulgent price wise at the time but hey ho, was a treat to myself, had to have it.

Cheers Graham! This thing is full of delights and the arm is no exception, it feels and looks quality as well as having some really nice features / little touches - the way they use to do things....

I was always going to match the SP10 with one of the good vintage Technics arms, with their on the fly vta - a deal breaker for me, no question.

I've always expressed my thoughts and love of the Technics vta system. It is a must/vital for me in terms of the stylus profiles i choose and nailing that sweet-spot via vta adjustment, really really not easy to do without this, as in my experience that 'right window' is very narrow and dialling in via on the fly is a gem of an aid towards achieving that, again, in my experience.

Its ease of use in that regard is priceless! worth it's weight in gold, simply because only once you've nailed that sweet-spot, is when the joy really begins ! :)

Sincere apologies for late response Mike, only spotted this the other day and been meaning to reply.

In a nut shell this tonearm is fab in my experience.

It was one of Technics arms for their 'upper' decks so SP15, SP25, SP10....

The arm tube is detachable, the whole thing feels and looks quality.

The on the fly vta adjust is fab and even more precise than that on the standard SL12XX

It was always going to be an arm with on the fly vta for my SP10 MK2, due to the stylus profiles I love/use, which are fussy $£$£% when it comes to set up, so being able to dial in the narrow sweet-spot with an arm like this is a must / essential assist.

The only one downside I can speak of is that unlike the standard arm on the 12XX's, which came later, there is no vta lock which is such a shame and inconvenient.

As a result the arm pillar can lower slightly with use over time, which is a pain after you've spent a lot of time, pain and effort nailing the vta sweet-spot, loving the music, only to find that suddenly the presentation sounds a bit off and to find it's because........

Lovely arm, all said and done though to answer your question :)
