after a very annoying incident, I have had to replace my portable media player (which I use ALL THE TIME)
I have decided to upgrade, from an Archos 605, to an Archos 5 internet tablet.

it's arrived today, sigh, with a really infuriating stuck pixel.
anyone had any experience with these, and foolproof solving methods? bearing in mind that the archos 5 is a touchscreen device...
I'll be getting on to the retailer, but from what I gather online, Archos have a 'at least 4 pixels' returns policy

any help would be hugely appreciated

The Distance Selling Regs apply here. You have received faulty goods. Send them straight back.

The 4 pixels nonsense would only apply to a warranty claim.

Under the Distance Selling regs you have a cooling off period of 7 working days.

= send it back.

all sorted now, I was getting worked up and worried over nothing.
I thoroughly recommend the company I bought it from (www.pcbuyit.co.uk)

how's this for quick customer service:

monday: original media player broken by idiot in street, archos 5 ordered in evening

tuesday email confirmation of dispatch

wednesday archos 5 arrives with stuck pixel, email sent off, querying what could be done about it in the evening

thursday email confirmation of plan of action

friday new one delivered, old one not taken away as yet :)
