I realise not the best time to sell any equipment but I thought i would see if any one is interested.
Probably going to regret this but I think it is time to try something different.
So I would like to offer my Quad esl 57s up for sale. I bought them 10 years ago and quite soon took them to "A Quad thing audio" to get an assessment.
As you can see on the receipts 2 new treble panels were fitted along with a full strip down and re furb carried out.
Serial no,s are 31025 and 31053. They have been completely faultless in my ownership with no noises or crackles and are also in exceptional condition, I cannot see any marks or dings in the metal grilles. As you can see i have the Oak legs fitted that raise them up and tilt forward for a much better focus and treble imaging.
I run them with "Widgets" as supplied by "A quad thing" there are also 2 small oak boxes I had made to cover a large wheight that holds down the rear leg as extra security to stop any possibility of them toppling forward.
They of course sound amazing and in my room which is 22' x 14'6 the sound is just wonderfull, they are around 4 feet from the back wall and a little in from the sides. I can't believe the bass that comes from these, treble is sweet and sharp.
Obviously any prospective buyer will want to see and hear them so once Covid 19 is gone and things are back to normal it would be great to see any one interested.
Have a good look at the photo's and let me know if you have any questions.
As they are in such good condition I am asking £1200 for them which doesn't come close to what I have spent on them.
Demo and pick up from north Dorset or I will deliver if your car is not suitable.
Thanks for looking.
Pete.

Thanks, l thought it was probably ok as we don’t live there anymore. But maybe better.
Whoever lives there now might get a shock one night.
Can anyone do that for me?

Your Quad 57s are in beautiful condition - especially the grills! :) Good luck with the sale.

Thanks Barry.

I couldn’t believe how perfect they were when l first bought them. Not a single dent or mark at all.
Really love the music they play. Not sure what l will replace them with but it won’t be cheap😄.
Not an easy set of speakers to sell, especially at the moment but not over bothered to keep them.

Friday bump for the Quad esl 57s.

I may be persuaded to negotiate on the price a little as may soon be getting replacements.
I have not seen a pair in such perfect condition. I really can't see any marks at all.
3 sets of large floorstanders in the lounge is pushing my luck a bit. ;)

Price drop to £1000
Dought there are many this nice out there.
Really trying to get a pair of Impulse H2s but can't really justify until the Quads find a new home.
Also have a mint pair of Epos M12. Bought new by me with stands and original box.

I have had my '57s for over 45 years, and I doubt if I will ever change them. They are not perfect by any means, but do well all the things that are important to me in a speaker. Correct positioning in the room is vital: they should never be put in a corner and ideally need about 6' clearence behind them.

Have heard more 'impressive' speakers at audio fairs and at friends' homes - but upon my return, I'm never disappointed to listen to my Quads again.

Mmm. Possibly a very good buy. Good luck.

You're so far from me that it'd require a great deal of logistic effort for me to try, plus there's WAF (sorry if this is non PC these days ....) to consider.

What kind of amp is needed to drive them?

Classic amps to pair with the 57s was always the quad II and later 303. I am using a Transcription audio 211 valve based amp running at around 22 watts per channel with a Firebottle "Kin" valve pre amp. I actually still think the quads better the transmission line speakers in every way except bass but they are not far off and actually I think more accurate bass.
Wanted to try some big transmission line speakers for a while and since finding some there is just no room for 6 very large speakers accross the living room back wall.

Just updating my ad. Now acquired the Rogers pro9tls so not a lot of space left in the lounge. May be easier to offer my 57s for a px or straight swap for a nice power amp more capable of running the Rogers, if anyone is interested?
I would be willing to deliver the quads a reasonable distance to anyone wanting to do a deal.
Price drop to £1000 or swap large power amp.

P.S. The quads are on eBay but l will cancel that if l get any interest here.

Will update my quads for sale add over the weekend with some more pictures, lower price and a better description.
Cancelled my eBay listing for a couple of reasons but mainly because of the huge amount of dumb irrelevant questions and heavy final sale charge. I still have to pay some fee’s, not sure how much yet.

Right so just a big bump really.
Had them on eBay and had a buyer, had some last minute interest from shall we say “elsewhere”. So cancelled the eBay listing only to be let down by the new interest.
Lesson learned. Hate eBay anyway.

So the 57s are up for grabs again.
Price drop to £800 cash on collection.
If they don’t sell soon. I will just make the extra room in the lounge.

You shouldn't need to pay fees if you didn't sell it. Unless you pick a reason to end early like changed your mind or something rather than incorrect starting price (my usual reason) or fault found.

Hope not, especially if they do the final sale price percentage.
