Uprading question from Croft 25 to Croft 25 "R"

As in the title - how does a Regulated power supply help improve sounds quality from a pre-amp?

From the link below the 25R shows 2x additional tubes making the total five (my current 25 has just the 3x tubes, two for the phono stage and one for the line stage).

So what's the advantage of a regulated power supply please?

Isn't the toroid in the standard 25 an accurate power supply anyway? Is it cleaning up the mains? Sorry I have no idea.

A transformer wont give a regulated power supply. The whole idea of a regulator is to maintain an accurate voltage.

OK so sound quality is improved by providing an accurate voltage (with the help of two additional tubes)... Assuming this means that fluctuations of voltage from the mains influence the sound quality in a somewhat detrimental way.

So by maintaining accurate voltage - does this mean ensuring that 240V is maintained even if the mains voltage fluctuates below or above that?

No the regulation will be nothing to do wit AC Voltage.

Fluctuations are right in a none regulated supply hence the need for some Regs. No idea about the brand of amp in question but it makes perfect sense to have the Pre amp as accurate as possible.
