What he thinks isn't worth reading.
What footballers are paid is between them and their employers. It's no business of the governments or anybody else. So I think he has a point.

I could never understand the whole thing about getting interested in football. It's just a load of grown men kicking a bag of wind around. Pointless really.

Yeah you're quite correct..but it does become the governments business..when the likes of Rooney and many many more football players try to scam the government out of Millions in tax...however, it's not just football, it's a lot of other high paid sprotsmen too...like motor racing for instance..I could wax lyrical about Lewis Hamilton too..stashing his cash abroad...made in Great Britain and trying to scam the government out of £16 million++ in tax......but he's not making a noise like Rooney....I just don't know how he manages on his £130 million..in his £20 million quid mansion...

Well he does say that he would be happy to donate large sums of money to help providing he knows where it is going. I understand that, no-one wants to give the gov millions just to top up the general pot. If it all goes on PPE and ventilators and such like then it would seem he's happy to do that. Anyway the gov can print as much money as it needs in the short term, it's availability of those items, not lack of money to pay for them that is the problem right now.

Hear, hear!
That fucker needs bitch-slapped with crowbar.
Marco.
End of day if all footballers take a wage cut the government will get far less tax off them. Saw in paper yesterday in the case of one player (DeBruyne Man city) he gets 200k a week so if his paycut takes him to 140k a week tax man looses out on 1.4million. Tis a fair chunk that.

And your point is?
The point is you are generalising are you not ?!
And IMO Is a very inaccurate generalization at that.
That’s my point!
How many professional footballers do you actually know and have contact with?
None I should imagine given your broad inaccurate public view of them..
What was I thinking! I clearly overstepped the mark....perhaps I didn't get the email? My sincere apologies for any pain and suffering caused.

Dear sirs,
It is with some dismay that I read these increasingly aggressive conflicting views on the subject of our national sport. We should at this time be pulling together, not falling out with each other. Please please please, let's try to keep things civil and show that we still are the tolerant, considerate football enthusiasts that are the envy of the rest of the world.
Yours faithfully.
