Hi Chaps,

I recently acquired a mint 401 50Hz deck, my third in fifty years. I have a new 60Hz pulley but it has been impossible to loosen up the slotted screws in the old bottom collar, the top collar was easy. I have plenty of screwdrivers but as you can see in the photos they do not fit straight in the slot due to the angle and the tiny screwdrivers do not have the strength to do the job. I do not want to disassemble more parts.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

WD40

The top collar came off easy because it was at the same height of the screwdriver's head but the tip of the screwdriver doesn't fully enter the head slots of the bottom collar screws. It is not a matter of WD-40.

Drop the motor our then. It's held in place with three screws on the top plate.

Are the just painted screw heads the ones for the motor yoke? How much more disassembling will I have to do, any adjustments after putting it back?

Thanks.

Do you need the lower collar off to replace the pulley?

No, I looked and saw no reason for doing it so I pulled the old pulley very hard and it came off. Frightfully sorry for all this mess.

Cheers,
