View Full Version : CD with a Virus ?
This is a new one for me
My CV-19 Virus project is the RIP all my CD's to FLAC files
All going well for a few days then suddenly today when I loaded a CD my antivirus software woke up and said it had a Virus on it.
Anyone ever have that before?
Paul
The cd did? May have a rom play section in it.
What's the virus protection software.
It should give a code you can look up

Could be a case of somesort of copy protection on the CD. I think there is a site somewhere with a list of them.
I had another look today
It looks like the AV software is objecting to some sort of media player included on the CD, something called AlphaPlayer.exe the AV software says it has Dynamer!rfn Trojan
I am using Microsoft's AV software so it may just be on their list of software they don't like rather than being a real Trojan, not going to click and chance it though.
Indeed it is
Whats the significance, do tell
for several years the d drive on hp pcs has spuriously, when checked with windows defender etc, that this is a trojan. I would try something like mwb or hitman pro and see it they pick it up too. They probably wont which will likely prove it isnt.

My CD is the H: drive and that's were its seeing the Virus, so not the apparent common HP D: drive issue, I don't even have the original recovery partition having spopped the original C/D with a SSD some time ago.
H or D won't matter to detection.
As I say I would scan it with something else and get a consensus.
Ms security software is OK but not great on things like this.
Not to say its not in this case correct of course.
I use hp stuff too but not had this, although I use mwb mostly
