View Full Version : For Dave (DSJR), Notts Mentor
Dave,
here's a couple of pics I found of my mentor circa mid nineties, the clamps are just resting...., the arm is a one off mission mechanic, the decca is a supergold circa 1991....sadly the deck Is now retired...the only real flaw IMHO is the resonant plinth........brilliant deck tho.....

Thanks BM. The later ones had the white perspex spacers instead of aluminium and the Reference removed the motor from the housing (a sonic issue on mine until I re-tightened the arm pod which had loosened off)
'Course guv, this was before the Wave Mechanic and its equivalents, which may have improved things.
Why did I sell it? Finances as usual and a dud Decca, which now isn't...

Marco.
Still a good general purpose tonearm in my opinion. mine is mounted on the board, ready to go..

The board looks sh*t but it's nowhere as bad as it looks. Any remaining scuffs should polish or T-Cut out..
Oh I agree - I think it's an excellent tonearm. Doesn't it also look rather like the arm on the PL-71?
Will it fit your Techie? If so, I think that combo will rock!
Marco.
Sorry mate, it won't as it's too deep as/is and the cardas male plug on the bottom increases it further. The base is brittle and dare not be cut (I had to locate a spare from the US).
The main thing with these old decks is that the ONLY spares available are those very tiny few shared with the current model.
