Is there a MK1 GyroDec motor meister out there?

Wondered if anyone knew of a GyroDec motor master out there, or even here?
My friend has got one, motor or supply is capputt and Mitchell is closed for servicing till further notice...wonder why?

Any good advice would be greatly appreciated

Is this the AC motor version? The first thing to check is that there is some voltage coming out of the PSU. Do you have a multimeter and are familiar with using it for voltage measurement?

I think, if i remember they stopped making that PAPST motor & John Michell had to use a different motor. I would however take the opportunity to update to the present motor if i was him..

Hi Adam, not sure AC/DC? ...will have to do some research on it...motor spindle/shaft doesn't feel free....Multimeter? I'll end up blowing myself up...It's just one of those things...once you know how it works, you wonder why you made such a fuss of it!!!

It's the AC motor. Rotating the motor manually should result in the spindle/pulley also turning. If not you are probably seized up.

Voltage coming out of the PSU is also necessary as has been pointed out.

If you're not seized and you have voltage the only other likely problem is the switch, as they can go. Or possibly a broken electrical
connection at some point. I've replaced two switches (I think) in 35 years. Same motor and power supply though. :)

No need to replace that if you can get it working at reasonable cost. Michell only went DC (and reluctantly) because that
motor became unavailable.

gwernaffield(Pete) knows quite a bit about the motors used I believe possible replacement options, probably worth PMing him to see if he can advise.

Thanks Blake, appreciate your offer...but sorry, it will be a load of Chinese to me...(Sorry, off topic...)....Just looking for someone who has experience in servicing PS and motor...chargeable of course!
