Tuesday, 10th March 2020 at Flamborough Head.
Cold, bleak and seriously windswept.
Bloody stunning.

I have seriously thought about taking up watercolour painting for 2020 onwards
I'm guessing you can imagine which direction that will be going in ?
There is a rather nice gallery here in Bridlington old town who have shown an interest.

Look at the Brian Griffin shot for Depeche Mode album sleeve 'Broken Frame' now that is a cool Sky. Similar lines to yours

It was my intention to turn these images into photographs that look nothing like photographs. These are now in the process of being printed on to Hahnemuhle Albrect Durer fine art paper so that they look even less like photographs and more like art. At some point, when they arrive back from the printers, they will be presented to the local gallery having been framed. If you can't paint but can take photographs that look as though they're painted then do it is what I say. I sold a similar one taken in Lincolnshire last year just before Xmas with a similar kind of processing. There are always folk out there who like them.

My biggest issue with digital photography is the quality of the images that modern cameras produce. They are just too sharp and too clear, so much so that they continually look false. This is OK for some of my stuff but certainly not stuff like this where I am relying on grittiness and graininess. As a result of that I have to post process my stuff using software. If I were still using medium or large format and darkroom printing this would not be possible. This look relies on digitising and processing. I am just hoping that the printed presentations look OK when they turn up from the printers.

Goes with anything digital may it be Photography sound or vision.

Same here. I think it's a stunning image and can see what Shaun was striving to achieve. Nature creates intricate combinations of light and shade, which takes great skill to successfully capture on canvas or in print.

I think more Black & White looks effective with that kind of thing..

Absolutely Marco ! Light, shade, texture, that is all it is about for me when I am trying to capture something that could be a 'light painting'. I'm not interested in the sun shining because better looking images can be had when it is bright but overcast. All I add is the gritty 'painted' appearance using software with a nice fuzzy 'bleed' effect.

Sadly, I gave up on film around five years ago mainly due to roll film being 10 quid with the addition of E6 processing. I would then have to scan the slides and then do the same post processing. It may produce an even better 'painted' type image I don't know. It would be a costly experiment though given the cost of medium format cameras and their rarity these days. At least I wouldn't have to buy wide angle lenses at another high cost as the images here were shot using a 50mm Nikon.

I'll wait to see how the prints look when they return from the printers and then the framers. Even framing these days costs around 65 quid for a 20X16 on top of the cost of the actual prints.

Once again, thank you for the comments.

Fabulous images. Love the idea behind them - they've become impressionistic in a contemporary way.

I think they will look really powerful printed and framed. Look forward to seeing them in situ!

Julian, cheers very much for your comments. The printed images are now back and framed. Although they still look like photographs they do have that certain 'impressionistic' look that you referred to.

I now have to get them to the gallery but it's not looking like that will be any time soon.
