Hi All,

Posted with Marco's permission...

My son is at university and has a very short survey they have put together for a course project. If anyone could take a couple of minutes to have a look and help their statistics it would be very much appreciated.

Done, but as someone who was at school/college/polytechnic just as personal calculators became available/affordable, I'm not so sure my answers will assist the right skew. I can just about still use a sliderule!

Thanks all and yes what constitutes "technology" is a good point. They are youngsters and I think I know where their heads are but I have asked him if they should update and specify what technology means to them.

Great survey - I'm currently doing a part-time degree in computer science and I've definitely used technology to help me with maths and statistics. From typesetting equations in LaTeX and plotting graphs in gnuplot to modeling stuff in Mathematica and writing my own solvers in Python - it all helps.

Also done - that will probably mess up the statistics sorry about that :) Our teacher had a pencil sharpener with a windy handle which he sometimes let us use. That was the extent of our technology.

Wot about your abacus and quill?;)

We had calculators, and for use outside of exams, rather comical-looking (massive) computers with green screens, running on BASIC, with about 2K of memory!:D

Marco.

We started the year with an abacus, then someone nicked the balls.

I know, life can be so cruel - at school they wanted me in the choir as I could easily hit top C, probably still can, but I'll never know due to my high tone deafness :(
