What’s the best sounding Zep on vinyl?

Been enjoying my 25+ yr old copies of Zep on vinyl recently, don’t ever want to get rid of them but with all the remasters over the years wondering which vinyl versions are thought to sound best?
I’ve heard the recent reissues on vinyl are pretty good?

My reference (for mastering quality and zeppelin “groove”) have been the pre-remastered Barry Diament CD’s, which sound great.
But it’s not vinyl.

Any thoughts welcome chaps.

Meaning more which VERSION/ which remaster is the best sounding of their catalogue on vinyl, rather than individual albums.

you know my views :lol: plums are best but the latest deluxe issues are a near second, and may be better, especially if said plum has had a lot of use...they are 50 years old. only first 4 albums had plums tmk

Not always the case with Plumbs. I had 1st issue YES albums on plumbs, also had the early 70's repress on the Green/Orange label, though the represses sounded better to my ears.

I don't think any Zep albums sound great on vinyl
I think maybe Song remains the Same is the best of the bunch
I Love Zep - great songs/music but the finished product for me is a let down - Jimmy Page should have got Bruce Botnik in to sort his remasters!!

I stopped buying Classic Rock LP's they just dont sound great at all to my ears..

I may have gone too far listening to the quality of the sound - rather than listening to just the music/its difficult, but I find it very hard to listen to music I love that disappoints when played at home

My down fail is listening to very well presented Remastered CD issues of my fave Rock bands. Did not take long to come to the conclusion what i though sounded best. However Im trying my best to just listen to music these days, giving vinyl another last chance..but old 70's Rock music is no longer in the equation.

Me too, though I have a soft spot for Led Zepplin II.

But if you compare it to a 1st pressing of say Black Sabbaths first three albums, you will hear that the sabbs sounds far better.

opinions i guess.... I had the sabbath stuff on first press at one time all bought when they came out as with zep stuff, along with Family and groundhogs.... oh and the early genesis stuff. Early sabbath was very well pressed and took a lot of abuse, as did my plums in the day I guess.:eyebrows:

Genesis sounded a bit pants imho.. The Early Sabbs Re-issues on WWA records sounded good but that was only because they were actually Swirl Vertigo pressings with WWA Labels. The Vertigo cat stampers are in the dead wax, sometimes scratched out. These go for a fraction of what you would pay for a 1st issue.

i have the 'new' IV from a couple yrs ago.
Very good. get 2 vinyl
One is as the original.
The companion has songs in same sequence but are different takes/recordings.
sound is superb on both.

also have Physical graffiti - imho sonically not quite as good as IV.

I was recently astonished by a copy of the Columbia House edition of Led Zep 2 (some kind of mail order record club reissue from back in the day). It told me things that my '70s reissue vinyl, Japanese '80s and UK '90s remaster CDs never did.

If you check out the Steve Hoffman forums then it's a toss-up between the Robert Ludwig US first pressing and the MFSL reissue. Either way so you can wave goodbye to >£100.

In pursuit of excellence your correspondent listened to a '70s UK pressing with STRAWBERRY in the matrix yesterday. Just as gutsy on the bass and almost as tangy on the cymbals as the RL US. And a fraction of the price. I now seem to have 8 versions across various formats. This is becoming an odyssey.
