A few days after receiving my Christmas present from Anita (Huwawei smartphone), I noticed there was a four-figure number at the bottom of the screen, which she tells me says how many steps I did that day. Been keeping an eye on it, and the number ranges between 6-7000. I tried to get that figure up (I was told 10,000 should be my target) by shaking the phone, but it wasn't having any of it. The number stayed the same.

How does it know when I'm walking? I don't carry the phone in my sock

So could I drive to Kendal and back and make it think I walked?

There's this guy who sometimes works with us, he doesn't need to' he owns rental properties all over Preston and goes on holiday every couple of months. I think he's just bored, or maybe his wife nags him about being a lazy shite. He certainly isn't the right shape for physical work.

Anyway, his wife bought him a fitness tracker, and he's since learned to walk around taking really small steps :) So his tracker thinks he's walked a mile when really he just went to the bog.

Just looked at today's figure and it's 5285 - so a lazy day then. I wonder what would be healthier, making myself a tuna salad (the kitchen is 20 steps away), or take the 3 mile walk to the kebab shop?

No doubt wearing it on your wrist would yield the same results...

I bought a cheapo fitness tracker a few weeks ago and it gives variable results. The steps function ranges from 3,000 on a lazy day at home to 17,000 when I move around a lot. Blessed thing has stopped working altogether now so might as well bin it. Had terrible trouble keeping it paired with the phone and despite forcing it to send data it would still break contact a short while later. It was fun though watching the heart rate climb when I was swearing at it when it wasn't behaving properly

Replaced it with an Honor 5 it's really good and she likes the different faces you can download :)

What's a "trackert" or "trackerts" - shouldn't it be tracker?:)

yup think so.. I had one a few years ago, my son bought it and didnt like it.. Was one of those expensive ones and strap broke at the watch and it was useless. They refused to replace even tho there had been a spate of same things.

A few years ago I bought my stepdad a George Formby grill for his birthday, in a bid to get him to eat healthier. As you know the fat drains out of it into a shallow receptacle, leaving the meat's fat content greatly reduced. His verdict: "This thing is great, with its little dripping catcher - I haven't had dripping butties since I was a kid!" There's no saving some people :(

I thought you might have corrected it by now, knowing how much you like to tinker with my posts, you little tinker :)

Try slapping it over the back of Sue's 'favourite friend', and a million 'steps' will be registered even quicker!!:D

Yep, always do, you may already know I'm pretty much un-offendable (is that a real word?) :)

Same here, as long as I know it's in jest. There's a big difference between being laughed AT and laughed WITH!;)

I'm always up for some good-natured banter.
