It was -1.5°C, blowing a hoolie & it had to be done haha :D :lol:
Did that & the Newtonmore Stone, which is just up the A9 a bit further & then back to a roaring fire in Dunkeld... I was frozen & needed liquid warmth ;)

Percentages? Bloody hell :lol:
75% technique & 20% brute strength and 5% brains removed for doing a slippery stone in the snow haha :D
Lifting bars is easy, lifting stones (more so natural, odd shaped stones) is difficult. But, once you’ve got the grasp (pardon the pun) it’s like 2nd nature...

Noted. That's kind of what I thought your answer would be. I'm pretty strong myself, and can lift very heavy things [no, not just *that* Piggurs:eyebrows:], but I wouldn't have the technique to tackle those stones, plus I'd be worried about doing in my back, which these days is something I'm rather protective of.

No idea, never contemplated it... x2 previously torn rotator cuffs would be a concern!
I compete in grip comps too; I’ve a grip that would concern anyone shaking my hand :lol:

Haha a few folk have said that... It is very oval, a smaller version of the Inver stone (which I couldn’t get to as the roads around Glenshee & Braemar we’re closed due to the snow)
However, this is the Menzies stone at Castle Menzies, Aberfeldy & very egg shaped & bloody hard to lift too, it’s so smooth

When you lift one of those things and get into that 'squatting' position, do you need to make sure you've taken a shit beforehand? I know if that were me, and I hadn't 'cleared the decks', as it were, in readiness for all that squeezing, I'd be filling the back of my pants with some 'unwanted padding'...:D

Some of them are 'kept & managed'; others are in remote locations and 9/10 wouldn't be able to shift them without a few of them having to try and lift at the same time :)
So fortunately; they're fairly safe

Suffering already... Been doing daft stuff like this since I was 21, 40 now & feeling old / decrepit / fragile :lol: :D

They are Olmec petrospheres seen in Central America. These were photographed in Costa Rica.
No-one knows why they were carved, or how the stone-masons were able to carve near perfect spheres to with a few millimetres of true sphericity.
They vary in size from a few tens of cm to a couple of metres in diameter.

Haha no... They look amazing though and I bet close to 500kg, if not heavier! Natural stone tends to be hell of a lot heavier than you think!

Easily, I'd say - while a cubic metre of water (1000 litres) weighs one metric tonne (I'm told) I reckon that thing would sink like a stone

yeah I wouldnt have been keen to lift it on a fork... 3.5ton max and that may be close and may be over..

In the true spirit of thread drift, I'll relate a news story I read in FHM Magazine a few years ago - in Mexico, a man went behind some rocks to give a chicken a good rogering (like you do), but his movements dislodged a rock which fell onto him and killed him. His body was later found, with the dead chicken still attached.
